Ark (Doom)

The Ark was the name given to a facility and type of technology seen in the Doom movie.

Background

The Ark was created by Human scientists within the Union Aerospace Corporation to provide a level of instantaneous transportation between two locations through a molecular mapping drive. This device was a teleporter that transported individuals from one facility to a companion one at another location which was on another planet.

The intial stages of Ark travel was quite hazardrous as well as turbulent which resulted in one UAC scientist having his lower body severed as part of him was sent to one location and the other was sent elsewhere. This would later be perfected but first time travellers were known to suffer from nausea and vomitting.

Two such Arks were created; one was present in Nevada on Earth and the other was present on Mars at the Olduvai Research Facility.
