History

At'la'tique was a term that first originated amongst Atlanteans around four centuries ago, specifically by the hands of the poet named Numara D'Athahr who described as the words as meaning the "fury of the sea". However, a derivation of the word also equated it with meaning respect for power and the majesty of the oceans might. At the time of the writing, D'Athahr was a religious outcast who opposed the Atlantean monarchy with the words remaining within her peoples history for the centuries that followed. The word eventually became adopted by a band of growing fringe radicals in Atlantean society who began to cause a divide amongst their people. By the modern age, it was led by a new leader in the form of mistress Nagala who preached a philosophy that targeted not only the followers of Namor but also all surface-dwellers. To achieve that end, At'la'tique formed a strike force which became known as the Fathom Five who were employed on such tasks and were considered a superhuman powered team of villains.

In order to achieve their goals, they formed an alliance with Baron Strucker of Hydra with the Fathom Five even attacking New York City where they were opposed by the New Thunderbolts who eventually defeated as well as imprisoned them.

Overview

The core philosophy of members of the At'la'tique involved the belief in wiping out the surface world and were considered a religious group with terrorist aims.
