History

The Scion was apparently capable of "powers beyond the creator himself", that was fashioned by the three great rulers of Atlantis: Qualopec, Tihocan, and Natla. Natla used the Scion in an attempt to subjugate Atlantis and depose Qualopec and Tihocan, thus breaking the three bond of consent that governed Atlantis and its inhabitants. Natla was imprisoned by being frozen cryogenically in current day Los Alamos, New Mexico. Her piece of the Scion was confiscated. After Natla’s imprisonment, Atlantis was struck by a disaster and was destroyed with the exception of the Atlantean Pyramid. Qualopec survived and fled to the Andes in Peru where he gave birth to another civilisation that became the ancestors of the Inca. He apparently died whilst sitting on his throne still looking at his piece of the Scion resting on a pedestal in his tomb. Qualopec's tomb lies behind an underground waterfall next to a lost valley, a haven where dinosaurs still flourish. The City of Vilcabamba was built on top of his tomb complex at a later date. Tihocan fled to Greece where he tried to keep rule over the barren lands there. He apparently died and was buried in a tomb deep underground along with his piece of the Scion and guarded by two Atlantean Centaurs. Access to the tomb was only available via a vast complex of sewers and cisterns which lay beneath an ancient palace built by Midas and a Colosseum which also lay buried underground. Overall access was underneath a folly built on top by monks to protect the location of Tihocan’s burial chamber. A vast sanctuary complex was constructed in Egypt underneath the city of Khamoon to house Natla’s piece of the Scion. There are two points of access to the Sanctuary, one being in the city of Khamoon that needed four artefact keys to open and the second point was a small passageway that led from the mountains to the Scion chamber. All the pieces were collected by Lara Croft as part of the game play, however she relinquished them to Natla and her henchmen when they caught up with her in Egypt. It was destroyed by a single bullet from Lara inside the Atlantean Pyramid foiling Natla’s plans to finish what she had started many thousand of years ago. Lara managed to salvage some Scion fragments that she stores in her treasure vault at Croft Manor.

Overview

It was an artefact composed of three components with each piece being worn around the necks of the Atlantean rulers. When all the components are combined, the Scion can be used to activate the Atlantean Pyramid, an advanced technological complex that can breed genetically altered beings.
