Austin Powers
Austin Powers (full name Austin Danger Powers), son of Nigel Powers and arch-enemy/brother of Dr. Evil (a.k.a. Dougie Powers). British agent in the employ of the Ministry of Defence, his immediate superior Basil Exposition probably put it best: Austin is "the ultimate gentleman spy, irresistible to women, deadly to his enemies, a legend in his own time." And that may very well have been true during the 1960s, when the fact that Austin had incredibly horrible teeth and glasses so huge that they took up half his face didn't matter, because he had mojo, baby, yeah!
After the umpteenth failed attempt on his life, Dr. Evil cryogenically froze himself and had himself shot into space. In case Evil ever returned, Austin allowed Basil and the M.O.D. to freeze him, too, and the super-spy earned himself a place in the M.O.D.'s Celebrity Ward. Thirty years later, in 1997, when Dr. Evil returned to Earth as predicted, Commander Gilmour of U.S. Strategic Command and General Borschevsky of Russian Intelligence demanded that Austin be thawed, for only he could match Dr. Evil. Such was the theory, anyway.
However, although Austin was, as always, more than a match for Dr. Evil and his cadre of murderous minions, he quickly found that he was completely and utterly unprepared for life in the 1990s, which rendered him vulnerable to the much more adaptable (but still socially awkward) Evil. However, thanks to Vanessa Kensington, daughter of his former partner Mrs. Kensington, he was able to adapt, and thusly combat Dr. Evil more readily. With Vanessa's help he thwarted Dr. Evil's fiendish plan to blow up the world with a nuclear warhead.
Shortly afterwards, Austin and Vanessa were married and Austin got his teeth fixed. Their honeymoon in France lasted two whole years, but unfortunately it was then that Austin learned Vanessa was a Fembot. After she self-destructed, Austin realized he was single again and could therefore be a swinger once more.
