Biography
Barnaby Brooks Jr. (Japanese: バーナビー・ブルックスJr., Hepburn: Bānabī Burukkusu Junia)
Barnaby Brooks Jr. was introduced making a highly publicized debut on Hero TV during a high-stakes municipal crisis in Stern Bild City, where a rampaging, superpowered criminal named Tony was executing a destructive vehicular getaway across a suspension bridge. Operating under the strategic oversight of Apollon Media, he bypassed the standard teamwork protocols of the veteran heroes to launch a precise, solo tactical counter-offensive, utilizing his specialized NEXT power to boost his physical capabilities a hundredfold for five minutes. He gracefully deployed his sleek, sponsor-branded high-tech armor to deliver a devastating kicking strike that completely incapacitated the criminal’s armored vehicle, instantly securing the maximum amount of MVP points for the match. Following the public victory, Barnaby Brooks Jr. attended a private corporate debriefing where the network's chief executive officially unveiled a massive, unprecedented reality television twist. To maximize viewership and corporate branding, the rookie hero was formally paired with the aging, clumsy veteran Wild Tiger to operate as the world's very first official superhero duo, thrusting the highly disciplined, pragmatic rookie into an immediate ideological partnership with an unpredictable companion whose reckless methods directly threatened his meticulous public trajectory.
Barnaby struggled to establish functional operational cohesion alongside his new partner Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, openly clashing with the veteran hero’s reckless, property-destroying methods and heavily resenting being relegated to a secondary status. Their systemic philosophical differences initially compromised their efficiency during a high-stakes municipal deployment, where the duo completely failed to neutralize a massive, animated stone landmark rampage. Through meticulous logical deduction, Barnaby Brooks Jr. calculated the mechanics of the anomaly, identifying that a young, emotionally troubled NEXT boy was telekinetically manipulating the structures. The crisis rapidly escalated when the child redirected a second giant statue to violently ambush a public ice skating arena where Kotetsu's estranged daughter, Kaede Kaburagi, was actively performing. While his veteran companion successfully engaged in an intense emotional negotiation to talk the boy down and diffuse the threat, Barnaby Brooks Jr. smoothly swept into the coordinate perimeter to gracefully rescue the civilians and secure the maximum points for the capture. Despite his ongoing personal coldness and refusal to respect his partner's traditional heroic ideals, his flawless, media-optimized execution completely charmed the public, unwittingly winning over Kaede Kaburagi as a dedicated personal admirer while further fueling the pair's competitive dynamic.
