Barry Burton is a male video game character who features in Resident Evil.

Barry Burton

He assisted fellow STARS Alpha Team comrade Jill Valentine during the course of their mission to find out what happened to the Bravo Team, who went out to investigate mysterious murders in the prequel game Resident Evil Zero, which stars Rebecca Chambers. He does appear in Chris Redfield's scenario as well, but only in the opening scene, and is presumed missing. Instead, Rebecca is Chris' partner, and survives the events of both games. Jill is held captive in a cell. Barry often showed up to aid Jill by saving her from deadly traps (like a ceiling about to crush her to a pulp) and awkward encounters with the various creatures infesting the mansion they are exploring. It is eventually revealed Barry was being blackmailed by their captain, Albert Wesker, who was actually double crossing his team as well as his employer, Umbrella Inc. Wesker had his family held hostage, forcing Barry to comply with his orders. Barry eventually came to his senses and was able to help Jill thwart Wesker's plans, and then escaped from an underground lab after defeating the Tyrant creature.

Barry comes in a helicopter to save Jill and Carlos Oliveira shortly before Raccoon City is obliterated by a nuclear strike on the morning of 1 October, 1998. He will also appear on the ranking screen with Jill and Carlos, with the three survivors being shown in a bar. Barry shows up on an island after reaching it by boat, having gotten a distress call from his estranged daughter, Moira, who was part of the group Terra Save, but was forcefully brought there, with Chris' sister, Claire Redfield. After docking, Barry almost immediately meets a young girl called Natalia Korda, who lost her parents due to a tragedy. The pair begin searching for Moira, and Claire, encountering many monsters. It is revealed Natalia had met Moira and Claire before, but a distraction enabled the antagonist Alex Wesker to take away Natalia, in an attempt to transfer herself into her, which she was halfway to succeeding before Barry arrived. Alex in a more deformed appearance tries to attack Barry and Natalia. It is revealed that Natalia could see monsters through walls as a result of being experimented with, which Barry relies on. Eventually, Barry saves Moira after being fueled by vengeance, believing Moira had been killed by Alex Wesker months ago, and he manages to kill Alex with the help of Moira and Claire, but it is revealed that Alex succeeded in transferring her soul into Natalia so she may live on.
