Gregory Belson

Dr. Gregory Belson was the scientist who became the head of cryogenics research at Gothcorp after Dr. Victor Fries. Belson was in serious financial trouble due to a bad investment he'd made on a new drug in which some unsavory side effects were discovered. Belson was approached by Mr. Freeze, who promised him millions of dollars in gold if he would help him cure his wife Nora Fries of her disease.

Belson discovered that damage done to the CC-100 had caused a relapse in Nora, and that she would die unless she received an organ transplant. He agreed to help Freeze find an organ donor for Nora, but when they failed to find a deceased one, they turned to Barbara Gordon, who they kidnapped and took to Freeze's hideout on an abandoned oil rig.

When Barbara attempted to escape, Belson pursued her armed with a revolver. His gunfire ruptured the oil tanks on the rig, starting a fire which threatened to blow up the entire platform. When Freeze became pinned beneath some wreckage during a tussle with Batman and Robin and begged Belson to help him, the cowardly Belson instead left him to die and attempted to escape by speedboat. An explosion caused the platform's helipad to collapse and land atop Belson's boat, killing him instantly.
