Biography
Benimaru Shinmon (Japanese: 紅丸新門, Hepburn: Benimaru Shinmon) was a Japanese male who was born in the years after the Great Cataclysm (大災害, Daisaigai) where he came to be an orphan in the Tokyo Empire. During this time, he came to be adopted by Hibachi Shinmon who needed an heir. Hibachi taught him everything about the Iai Shutō fighting style and all its forms and was a strict master. Constantly belittling Benimaru for being a fool for his inability to use Sun Wheel correctly because of his self-doubt and punishing him whenever he got into a pointless fight. Benimaru needed Konro Sagamiya to communicate his master's good intentions through of the man's brutish attitude. Even as a boy, Benimaru was a member of the fire department and helped put infernals to rest.
Shinmon continued being the rebellious, short-tempered Captain of Special Fire Force Company 7 who chose to govern the historic Edo-styled district of Asakusa according to his own rules. Heavily distrustful of the central Tokyo Emperor and the Holy Sol Temple, he flatly rejected traditional military protocols and operated independently alongside his trusted lieutenant, Konro. His isolationist routine was abruptly disrupted when members of Company 8 arrived at his headquarters unannounced, attempting to investigate a series of mysterious incidents occurring within his jurisdiction. Showing complete disinterest in their imperial mission, Benimaru ordered the visitors to leave his turf immediately. However, the tense standoff was cut short when frantic screams echoed through the streets, revealing that a local townsperson named Kantarō had suddenly transformed into a flaming, monstrous Infernal, forcing Benimaru to spring into immediate action to protect his town.

Personality and attributes
In appearance, Benimaru Shinmon was a young human male of average height with a lean, deceptively muscular physique and an effortlessly casual posture. He had shoulder-length, wavy dark hair that fell messily across his face, partially obscuring a pair of highly unique, asymmetrical eyes. His right pupil was shaped like a vivid red circle, while his left pupil featured a stark white cross, giving his gaze an intense and striking quality. He bypassed standard Fire Force uniforms entirely, opting for traditional, loose-fitting Japanese garments that reflected his heritage. His outfit consisted of a dark, long-sleeved kimono top worn beneath a light-coloured vest, matching loose trousers tucked into dark wrap-around footwear, and a simple rope belt tied at his waist. He walked with a chronic, relaxed slouch and a perpetually bored or brooding facial expression. He came to develop a fearsome reputation where he was known as Asakusa's King of Destruction (浅草の破壊王, Asakusa no Hakai-Ō).
Benimaru was short-tempered, would rather work alone or solely with his brigade, and can be somewhat disrespectful to many of his seniors. Despite this, he has a lot of faith in himself and in his brigade. He did not concern himself with any part of Tokyo other than Asakusa, not caring about the rules that the emperor has created, and proudly acts on his own agenda along with his brigade. He is an honest man, though sometimes honest to the point where he is rude to others. Although Benimaru destroys buildings and houses in Asakusa when facing an Infernal, he is seen as a hero and benevolent by the citizens. He seems to care about Asakusa and the people who reside in it and is upset by having to put an end to the life of someone he once knew and becoming extremely angered when misinformed. as shown by the cause of death of Kantarō angering him to the point of fighting the entire 8th Brigade.
It was shown that he generally liked to work alone or with his own brigade than with others.
Powers and abilities
Shinmon was born with the rare trait of being a Second and Third Generation pyrokinetic where he was able to not only ignite his own flames willingly but control fires from external sources. He was generally well-regarded as the strongest officer in the Special Fire Force. The sheer power and size of his flames are tremendous, as is his extremely precise and fluid control of said flames. He was capable of completely annihilating his doppelgänger, who managed to create a Nichirin around the entire planet with the ability to destroy it, declaring that he is in fact, stronger than his double. Due to him possessing both Second and Third generation abilities, Benimaru is an expert in all types of combat, as his abilities allow him to create either destructive long ranged projectiles, redirect external heat sources and gunfire, amplify his martial arts, and nullify and redirect almost any pyrokinetic attacks. This coupled with his incredible skills make Benimaru one of if not the most powerful character in all of Fire Force.
Benimaru Shinmon possessed an extraordinary, unprecedented tier of pyrokinetic power, universally recognized as a rare hybrid of both Second and Third Generation capabilities. Unlike standard fire soldiers who were limited to one classification, he could willingly ignite his own devastating flames and seamlessly manipulate external fire from any outside source. He demonstrated exceptional mastery over traditional firefighting matoi, which were large, wooden-poled banners that he could effortlessly manipulate with his telekinetic fire control. By igniting the ends of these heavy banners, he could use them as high-velocity, airborne projectiles to violently demolish multi-story buildings, or ride them through the sky like poles for instantaneous supersonic flight. His kinetic precision allowed him to telekinetically control dozens of flying matoi simultaneously, directing them across vast distances to flatten entire blocks with casual, overwhelming destructive force.
Benimaru possesses tremendous levels of physical strength. As a child, he could match the strength of his master Hibachi, and was capable of restraining a grown man with his bare hands. After permanently unlocking Hysterical Strength, Benimaru’s strength allowed him to completely overpower both Shinra and Arthur simultaneously and continue beating down on them for several hours. Benimaru’s natural physical might combined with his innate martial arts mastery makes him an incredibly powerful opponent to face in close quarters, which is further amplified by his pyrokinetic fighting style.
He was an extremely skilled and powerful hand-to-hand combatant able to easily outmanoeuvre and defeat other advanced hand-to-hand combatants. He was also a master practitioner of the iaido martial arts.
