One account states that in 1928, there was a fire in Stalingrad which burned down the building that infant Natasha and her mother were living in. According to the account, just before dying in the fire, Natasha's mother threw her out the window to a Russian soldier below. Overview

Notes

  • The concept of Black Widow was created by George Kapitan and Harry Sahle where he made his first appearance in Mystic Comics v1 #4 (August, 1940).

Alternate Versions

  • In Marvel Knights: Millennial Visions v1 #1 (2001), an alternate version of the Black Widow appeared in the Earth-1078 reality in the Multiverse. This version was Galina Tsarfin who was part of a top-secret program of KGB attempted to recreate the perfect super-being with an experiment called Samy Siylny Pahuk (Russian: Самый сильный паук), which would be an even more perfect and invincible Black Widow. They used the combined DNA of the original Black Widow and a radioactive spider from Peter Parker's stolen work in order to grant their subject, Galina Tsarfin, near genetic perfection. But she still failed to meet all of the scientists' outlandish expectations. Their next step involved impregnating Tsarfin with DNA stolen from Spider-Man. This procedure nearly guaranteed that their offspring would be everything the scientists hoped for and more. Surprisingly, the experiment caused Tsarfin to give birth to not one genetically advanced child, but 123.
  • In Ultimate Avengers v1 #3 (2009), an alternate version of the Black Widow appeared in the Ultimate Marvel reality designated as Earth-1610 in the Multiverse. After the death of Romanova, Monica Chang was shown to had taken the mantle of Black Widow.
  • In All-New Ultimates v1 #1 (2014), Jessica Drew came to adopt the Black Widow name in the setting of the Ultimate Marvel reality designated as Earth-1610 in the Multiverse.
