Biography
Origin
Jay Abrams was a male superpowered being who came from the parallel reality world of Angor.
He came to join the other superbeings of his world as one of the Champions of Angor. (Justice League v1 #2)
After surviving the destruction of his home world of Angor, Blue Jay and his allies come to Earth, in an attempt to disarm its nuclear arsenal and save it from a similar fate. (Justice League v1 #2) Wandjina seemingly sacrifices his life in a successful attempt to protect the country of Bialya from a nuclear meltdown. Blue Jay and the Sorceress are imprisoned by Russian officials. (Justice League v1 #3) Sorceress escapes back to her homeworld through magic. Blue Jay escapes into the Russian wilderness. (Justice League Europe v1 #12) He evades multiple Russian patrols and ends up with the League. (Justice League Europe v1 #16)
Mitch's subsequent time travel adventure with Kilowog would showcase Blue Jay's old friends and teammates, all analogues of Marvel Comics superheroes. (Justice League Quarterly v1 #3)

Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
Jay Abrams was born in America on the planet Angor, in Earth 8 of the Multiverse. By his adult life he had gained the power of and taken on the superhero persona of the Blue Jay and joined the super team known as the Retaliators. Eventually Blue Jay and the Retaliators came up against the evil Lord Havok and his servants the Extremists. Havok and his team were able to wipe out the Retaliators, with Blue Jay escaping by shrinking smaller then he ever had before. When he returned to consciousness he discovered that he was in a sub-atomic plane known as the Microverse. (Justice League of America v5 #4)

Through unspecified means, Blue Jay is able to shrink himself down to seven inches high. He also grows a pair of bird-like wings while shrinking, allowing him to fly.
Notes
- Blue Jay was created by Mike Friedrich and Dick Dillin where he made his first appearance in Justice League of America v1 #87 (February, 1971).
- The character was homage to the Marvel Comics character Yellowjacket.
Alternate Versions
- In Countdown Presents: Lord Havok and the Extremists v1 #1 (2007), an alternate version of Blue Jay appeared in the newly created Earth-8 in the reborn Multiverse. Adam was a scientist developed a method of shrinking himself and became a costumed vigilante under the alias Blue Jay. Subsequently, he married Diane, a woman with similar powers. However, the metahumans of this Earth were a chaotic and arrogant group, who fought with no heed for their surroundings. This led the hero known as Tin Man to run for president on a platform of metahuman control. Blue Jay complied with the law and joined the Meta Militia. When Tin Man was killed by Lord Havok, he was replaced by his VP, the Americommando, and Blue Jay became the VP. However, Americommando abused his position, sending Blue Jay on a research study of the Russian wilderness so he could begin an affair with Diane. When Americommando's alliance with the forces of Monarch backfired on the Meta Militia and the team was defeated, Blue Jay used his Raven armour to intervene. At his suggestion, Americommando was taken into custody and all survivors were able to walk away. As VP, Blue Jay succeeded Americommando.
