History
The Cadre were a group of individuals that were brought together and empowered by the extraterrestrial cosmic being known as the Overmaster. (Justice League of America v1 #236)
Overview
In appearance, the first Cadre were all a group of humans gathered by the Overmaster where he imparted them superhuman abilities in exchange for their servitude. (Justice League of America v1 #236)
It was said that the purpose of the Cadre was to help test the worthiness of a race. (Justice League of America v1 #236)

- Black Mass : a human male physicist who had a small thin frame until he was given gravity controlling powers allowing him to grow in size and frame. (Justice League of America v1 #236)
- Softball : a male human who was a baseball player where he accepted the Overmasters offer and could grow base balls with a high degree of accuracy each having a different effect on their target. (Justice League of America v1 #236)
- Crowbar : a human male who was a criminal captured by the Justice League where in prison he was freed by the Overmaster who empowered a crowbar that was used as a throwing spear. (Justice League of America v1 #236)

- The Cadre was created by Gerry Conway and Chuck Patton where they made their first appearance in Justice League of America v1 #235 February (February, 1985).
