Biography

Cerberus was a male being that existed in the realm of Hades who served the Olympian god of the dead Pluto. (Thor v1 #130)

As part of his Twelve Labors, Hercules went forth to capture and bring back Cerberus. (Hercules v3 #1)

Cerberus later confronted Ka-Zar and his friends when they tried to enter into the Underworld. (Ka-Zar the Savage v1 #10)

Following an encounter between Hrimhari and Wolfsbane, Rahne Sinclair came to find herself pregnant with the child of the Wolf Prince. This made her a target among various pantheons and other entities who sought to kill their child. Among them was Cerberus who attempted to kill Rahne but the was attacked by the Fenris Wolf who was angered at the Olympian targeting one of his descendants. (X-Factor v1 #223)

Personality and attributes

It was said that his name was spoken throughout the universe. Cerberus had said that all those that dwelt below in the netherworld cringed in fear before his might. (Thor v1 #130)

Powers and abilities

It was said that Cerberus was created to be many guardians and if in a form that was ill-equipped for a battle then he could adopt another one. (Champions v1 #1)

From his helmet, he could emit a ray of destruction at his targets. (Thor v1 #130)

Notes

  • Cerberus was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where he made his first appearance in Thor v1 #130 (July, 1966).
  • The character was adapted from the figure from Greek mythology.

In other media

Television

  • In Avengers Assemble, Cerberus appeared in his dog-form only in the animated television series fourth season Secret Wars in the episode "Incredible Hercules". He was dispatched by Ares to capture Hercules who had taken the Mace of War that served as a key to Tartarus. The three headed beast battled the Avengers when Hercules arrived to defeat the creature who returned back to his master. He was then accompanied by Ares himself where Cerberus captured Hercules and brought him back to Olympus.
