Chief Atacama

Chief Atacama was the leader of a tribe of Orinokon Indians in South America, and a friend of Dr. Benton Quest. He oversaw Jonny and Hadji's attempt to pass the Orinokon rite of manhood by reaching a sacred circle within the village to take a sapphire. They failed due to Jonny's inability to cooperate with Hadji, for which Atacama admonished the boy. Later, the boys retook the test after defeating Dr. Zin, and passed it.
