History

Chomolonzo was a large mountain located in the Himalayas that was stated to had been formed when the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate collided with one another around 40 million years ago thus leading to the creation of the region. In time, the mountain became considered sacred to those of the Buddhist faith as it was protected by the goddess Palden Lhamo and the Terma being hidden somewhere on it. At some point, the construction of the Nyen-de-kyi-buk monastery being made by the order of monks that worshipped Chomolonzo. The name was said to mean "The Sacred One" though this was not a 100% literal translation at the name actually meant "bird goddess". Its sacred nature meant that individuals were not ordinarily allowed to climb it unless they circled the base of the mountain at least twelve times. This journey was known as the "Kora" with the "The Sacred One" leading the pilgrim's path. Through the Kora, the pilgrims walked around the mountain in a clockwise direction. Each circling of the mountain was stated to bring the pilgrim closer to Nirvana. Those that did not partake in the ritual suffered from the ghostly spirits that roamed the mountains cold surface with their curses often spelling the doom for normal mortals.

Whilst the inhabitants of the region had worshipped the mountain, the rest of the world only learnt of its existence by the time of the 20th century when the Himalayas were discovered by the western world. In 2009, Frank Simmons was hired by Edward Bennet to climb the sacred mountain Chomolonzo in order to secretly locate the mystical relic known as the Terma that was stated to grant its bearer immortal life. Bennet had previously attempted to climb the mountain himself but had broken his leg after a fall thus leading him to hire Frank Simmons to retrieve the relic on his behalf. Simmons climbed the mountain alongside his partner Paul Ward but the two entered into an argument which led to Ward returning back to base camp whilst Frank continued his journey. On the 29th of April 2009, top mountaineer Eric Simmons was sighted in the region of Mount Chomolonzo where he was believed to be looking for his younger brother Frank. Thus, he embarked on an expedition to climb the mountain and find his brother. By this point, the mountain was noted as becoming malevolent as it was angered by the improper practices made against it with ghosts as well as demons preying on any climbers along with a haunting of the nearby settlements and monasteries.
