Biography

Cornelia and Euphemia as children.

Cornelia li Britannia (Japanese: コーネリア・リ・ブリタニア, Hepburn: Kōneria ri Buritania?) was the daughter of Emperor Charles zi Britannia who ruled the Holy Britannian Empire and one of his wives named Victoria li Briannia. At some point, she had a younger sister born from the same mother with this girl being Euphemia li Britannia. As royalty. The pair lived as princesses in Britannia where they had many half-brothers and half-sisters that their father had bore with his other wives or mistresses. Among her half-siblings included Lelouch vi Britannia, Nunnally vi Britannia and Clovis la Britannia. During their childhood, these children all were known to play with one another and had a close friendship as siblings. In her youth she served as the head of Marianne vi Britannia's personal guard. She came to idolise Marianne and following her murder, Cornelia began an investigation into her death but found no further information.

One of her assignments involved a military engagement in the Middle East where she was successful in establishing Area 18. After the death of Viceroy Clovis, Cornelia was chosen to replace him and bring down the insurgency that was plaguing Area 11. She takes over the position of Viceroy in Area 11 with the intention of apprehending Zero, who murdered her brother, Clovis. She conducted a number of campaigns against Zero and the other resistance cells in Area 11, and proved largely successful in eliminating the Japan Liberation Front. However, Zero managed to continuously elude her. Cornelia's distrust of Suzaku Kururugi, an Honorary Britannian, led to her avoiding asking for his help, though she gives him a token promotion for his deeds nonetheless. Euphemia's appointment of Suzaku as her personal Knight seemed to alleviate some of this distrust.

After Zero kills Euphemia after the failed attempt at establishing the Special Administrative Region of Japan, Cornelia's desire to bring him to justice becomes much stronger. She managed to lure him into single combat on top of the Area 11 government complex. Her Gloucester easily outmaneuvers his much larger Gawain, but Darlton, under the influence of Lelouch's Geass, impaled her Knightmare through the cockpit with his lance, badly wounding her. Lelouch questions her on his mother's death, only to learn that she knows very little. As Clovis did before her, she points to their brother Schneizel for more information. Lelouch plans to use her as a hostage, but the sudden arrival of Jeremiah Gottwald thwarted that plan. After their battle leaves Cornelia unattended, she summoned Suzaku to her side. She tells him where to find Zero, and officially knighted him so he may exact revenge for Euphemia on her behalf.

Cornelia disappeared following the Black Rebellion, leaving even her personal knight Guilford in the dark about her fate. After recovering from the injuries sustained during the Black Rebellion (though her arm is still bound in a sling), Cornelia went rogue, cutting contact even with the other members of the Imperial Family, and started a solo investigation into the Geass Directorate. She seeks to expose them to the world to prove her sister's innocence. She discovers the location where V.V. and Jeremiah Gottwald have made their base and confronts General Bartley. He unexpectedly asks her for help in escaping, believing that the Emperor's goal could bring about the end of the world.

In Japan, she headed a resistance unit that planned an assassination attempt of Emperor Lelouch when he was touring the country. During this moment, a mysterious individual dressed as Zero emerged who bypassed the security detail and murdered Lelouch. With the Emperor dead, Cornelia's forces revealed themselves where she stated that Lelouch the Demon was dead and sent her people to free the prisoners he had kept in the parade.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Cornelia li Britannia was a beautiful young woman in her late-20's who possessed distinctive long purple hair.

Such was her fierce and powerful reputation that she was known as the "Goddess of Victory". It was this reason that she did not like to be coddled or protected even by her lieutenant. During battle, Gilbert warned her to turn back and that he would push forward but she responded by saying that she was not one of his women to be sheltered in such a manner. Such was her nature that she preferred death rather than be captured by the enemy.

She did not trust the honorary Britannians inducted into the military from the inhabitants of Area 11. She also harbors animosity towards Area 11 (Japan) for its responsibility in the supposed deaths of Lelouch and Nunnally, as well as the later murder of Clovis. The loss of the three siblings seems to be the source of her distrust toward foreigners and Honorary Britannians.

Cornelia li Britannia was the daughter of the nation's Emperor Charlies vi Britannia with her mother being Victoria li Briannia and she had a direct blood younger sister in Euphemia li Britannia. Princess Cornelia deeply cared for her sister Euphemia even during their childhood. As a child, she doted upon her younger sister, and as such Euphemia was Cornelia's only known weak spot. She idolized Marianne and conducted investigations into her murder. Through her father, she had a number of half-brothers and sisters who all had different mothers to her.
