Corpus
"Corpus" was a name that referred to two monsters created by an insane garbageman to destroy the town he had serviced for years, out of spite because the villagers took him for granted and did not even know his name. The insane man (whose actual name was never revealed due to a running gag in the episode) used a mysterious pinkish ooze of his own creation to make the two monsters. The ooze would bond with whatever it was poured on and cause it to absorb its base element. As a result, the first Corpus, which consisted of scrap metal held together by the ooze, only ate metal, while the second and most dangerous Corpus, originally a person, consumed living things like people and animals, keeping them within itself in a state of suspended animation. The fate of the first Corpus is not known, but the second was destroyed when Max, Norman, Virgil and the townspeople freed the trapped people within its bulk, causing it to melt and die.
Trivia
The monsters' name is taken from a playset in the toyline, Mighty Max Survives Corpus, although not only does the toy itself only vaguely resemble the first creature, the actual character(s) of Corpus does not figure into the story of the toy. Interestingly however, the villain of the playset, Mort the Gravedigger, bears a strong resemblance to the cartoon Corpuses' creator.
