Crimson Guard

The Crimson Guard are an organization that feature in G.I. Joe.

History

The Crimson Guard were an elite combat unit that operated within the Cobra Organization.

As part of the process, the Cobra operative Scalpel was noted for being responsible for the plastic surgery process that made the Guardsmen resemble the Cobra Commander.

Overview

In appearance, the Crimson Guard were notable for their red coloured uniforms with them being elite shock troopers that reported directly to Cobra Commander. Referred to as Siegies, a requirement was that they all hold a degree in either law or accounting as well as being in top physical condition. The final stages of their training were said to take place in the deepest recesses of Cobra's headquarters with it being said that they took part in a hideous initiation ceremony.

The Guard was divided into a number of sub-groups that included:

• Crimson Horsemen : a division of the Crime Guard who specialized in mobile combat tactics where they tended to operate tanks due to their strength, armor and weapons. Despite that, they could turn operate almost any vehicle that they turned into a weapon of destruction on the battlefield. Horsemen were highly trained in many disciplines and could switch from aggressive infantry fighters to clandestine operatives with ease.
• Shadow Guard : this sub-group consisted of infiltrators and saboteurs that specialised in covert operations in the night. They were silent and invisible to the point that they left no trace of their activity except the devastation left in the wake of their actions.
• Python Crimson Guard : a specialised unit that were held as being the best among the shock troopers. All members were college graduates that were in top physical condition with them becoming masters at infiltration and sabotage. These soldiers operated as spies where they observed their fellow vipers and reported all violations of Cobra policy to the Python Patrol commander.
• Crimson Guard Immortals were an elite unit of fanatical supersoldiers that swore fearsome oaths of absolute obedience to the Cobra Commander. These soldiers were equipped with advanced weapon systems that aided their natural talents as marksmen and martial art experts. Within the Cobra Legions, they were considered the most formidable fighters and when not serving as the personal bodyguard to their leader tended to be involved in covert operations around the country. These assignments often saw them under deep cover where they assumed a normal civilian life with them frequently running for public office.

Teams were often led by Crimson Guard Commanders who were among the most toughest of fighters within Cobra's ranks.

• Agent Faces : a male operative of G.I. Joe who disguised himself as a member of the Crimson Guard to infiltrate the Cobra mountain on a daring mission alongside Shipwreck that resulted in the base's hanger doors opening allowing for the rest of G.I. Joe to storm the stronghold.
