History
A cyberbrain (Japanese: 電脳, Hepburn: dennō)
Overview
In appearance, cyberbrains were the result of cybernetic augmentation of the human body that involved the brain being placed in a mechanical case. Part of the procedure involved the cyberization of the human central nervous system to be part of the resultant cyberbrain which became a hybrid of an individual's original nervous tissue with cybernetic components. This brought about an increase in the subject's neural abilities beyond their original biological constraints in fields such as neurokinetics and data analysis.
One condition experienced by cyberbrain users was Closed Shell Syndrome that was a form of cyberbrain-induced autism. It tended to occur when users were too compatible with cyberbrain technology causing them to eventually shut themselves off from the outside world to avoid harming others or themselves by forcibly accessing their cyberbrains. CSS patients were savants with extremely high computer skills, and often used to build and deconstruct network barriers.
An illness suffered by some cyberbrain users was Cyberbrain sclerosis. The disease was characterized by hardening of the brain tissues precipitated by the cyberization process. Officially, it was said that there was no cure for the condition and that cyberbrain sclerosis was always fatal.
