History

Central Security avatars.

DEVA was a space station and virtual hub created by mankind following a planetary disaster known as the Nano Hazard. This event scarred the planet Earth when humanity had reached the point that they sought to explore space. As a result, the survivors quickly sought to preserve themselves by storing their DNA and digitizing their minds into DEVA. This took the form of a large space station that was situated in Lagrange Point 1 in Earth's orbit.

By A.D. 2400's, 98% of mankind resided within the virtual realm of DEVA whilst the remnants of mankind resided on the devastated surface where they managed to make a living for themselves.

Overview

A server on DEVA.

Its inhabitants were all human beings but were digitized entities where they existed in a virtual environment. Such was their dependency on computer systems that it informed them of any illnesses that physical bodies might experience. Servers were present that created idyllic virtual environments for the citizens of DEVA. However, a constraint was memory allocation to its citizens as only those that greatly contributed to society were afforded greater memory capabilities. Whilst digital entities, some citizens were able to become part of the physical world again by the growth of organic bodies. These were grown from the genetic cache stored of the individual that was present in the archives. Once taken, a cloned body was generated for the DEVA citizen that required over 30 hours to develop to adulthood and any acceleration led to the body being that of a 16 year old. A DEVA citizen was able to occupy the organic body and even return to being a digital entity at which point their flesh and blood body was in a coma-like state until it was animated again by its intelligence.

A number of divisions were part of it that included the administrative center and the security center. Agents of Central Security had access to administrative rights allowing them to access the information on the server and track down hostile intrusions. On Earth's surface, DEVA managed to maintain a link with normal humans to serve as ground support operatives. These individuals operated as guides and provided support to DEVA security agents. Particularly useful human operatives were sometimes rewarded with an offer to join DEVA and become virtual entities.

Central Security did not tolerate threats to DEVA that even included benign forces that could go outside their power. Such potential threats were all targeted for elimination with DEVA not making any exceptions. Those held as criminals and traitors to DEVA were archived with some being given no option of parole or appeal.

It operated a number of mecha known as ARHANs that could either be occupied by a virtual DEVA agent or one who had grown an organic body for themselves. These exoskeletal power suits had thrusters that allowed for flight, could be equipped with weapons and were deployed from orbit in drop-pods. An antennae was situated on the back of the suits that allowed a remote link to DEVA.

DEVA operated a number of additional facilities such as the Earth Orbit Station Platform. These contained large caches of stored mechs, drop-pods, security interceptors, and could launch warheads such as resonance missiles.
