It was posited that Captio was the smartest man in the world which he confirmed as being the case. Daniel stated that it was not an egotistical claim on his part. This was because he believed that in his standing that he had made it his life's work to unravel the human mind and study humanity. Dr. Captio believed that only he was suited for such a task and thought that one could only study something below them. In his view, his contemporaries that included philosophers, psychologists and anthropologists stumbled in the study of themselves. Thus, he equated them to children that could not understand the complexities of other children. As such, he saw his fellow human beings as simply children and had no desire to help them. (Batman: The Knight v1 #8)
In the course of his life, Daniel had studied every philosophical musing in existence. He claimed to had stared down every 'false god' that humanity had put forth. This had brought him to the view that nothing mattered yet everything mattered in life. Thus, existence was deemed to be a simultaneous cosmic trick with everyone being insignificant. He saw mankind as being specks of dirty in a swirling uncaring universe. It was this reason he cared little for human life as he saw them as akin to motes of dirty and a death meaning nothing. (Batman: The Knight v1 #8)
