  • 1901: Real World - U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt delivers a speech to Congress in which he asks them to limit the power of business trusts.
  • 1912: Real World - The First Balkan War is paused by an armistice between Turkey and its opponents.
  • 1973: Real World - Pioneer 10 sends back images of the first direct observations of Jupiter.
  • 1984: Real World - The Bhopal Disaster occurs when a Union Carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal, India, leaks methyl isocyanate gas; 2000 die immediately, and as many as 600,000 more are injured. 6000 more die from their injuries.
  • 1999: Real World - Radio contact is lost by NASA with their Mars Polar Lander.
