Biography
Devil Dinosaur was a large red dinosaur that was native to the world of Earth-78411 that was a primitive reality in the past in the Multiverse. (Devil Dinosaur v1 #1)
Devil Dinosaur was initially a standard member of a dinosaur tribe until a hostile faction of primitive hominids known as the Killer-Folk attacked his family, using fire to scorch Devil Dinosaur and kill his mother. A young hominid named Moon-Boy intervened to rescue the juvenile reptile from the flames. The intense heat of the fire triggered a rapid mutation in Devil Dinosaur's biology, permanently transforming his skin to a bright red coloration and significantly augmenting his physical scale and intelligence. Recognizing Moon-Boy as his savior, Devil Dinosaur formed a permanent, communicative bond with the youth. Devil Dinosaur utilized his newly augmented physical attributes to counter-attack the Killer-Folk, driving them away from the territory and establishing a lifelong alliance with Moon-Boy to protect their domain from external threats. At some point, young Celestials transported the Hulk back in time to combat Devil as well. (Marvel Monsters: Devil Dinosaur v1 #1)
In a fight between Slapstick and Doctor Yesterday, Devil and Moon-Boy were briefly teleported to Earth-616. (Marvel Comics Presents v1 #161)
Moon-Boy remained under the custody of S.H.I.E.L.D. for some time, which drove Devil Dinosaur into a sort of saurian depression. Refusing to eat, or defend himself, he was in danger of dying. However, Stegron became worried about the survival of the Devil-Beast due to it being the last known of its species. He left the Savage Land and came to the U.S. attacking S.H.I.E.L.D. base until the Initiative stopped and arrested him. After discovering the motive behind Stegron's plan, they sent Reptil to smuggle Moon-Boy back to the Savage Land and to Devil. (Avengers: The Initiative Featuring Reptil v1 #1)
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Devil Dinosaur was a colossal, bipedal reptilian creature that possessed the structural biological physical traits of a giant theropod dinosaur, specifically resembling a Tyrannosaurus rex. Devil Dinosaur possessed a vibrant, bright red skin tone that covered the entirety of his heavily muscled body. The texture of his hide was composed of thick, armored reptilian scales capable of resisting heavy impacts. The head was disproportionately large, featuring a broad snout, two large golden-yellow eyes with dark slit pupils, and an exceptionally wide jaw lined with rows of sharp, white teeth. Devil Dinosaur possessed two highly compressed, short upper limbs that terminated in sharp claws, and two massive, muscular lower limbs built for high-speed terrestrial locomotion, with each foot featuring large talons. A thick, muscular tail extended outwards from his lower back to provide stabilization. Devil Dinosaur did not wear any garments, uniform, or armor, remaining entirely in a natural biological state. (Devil Dinosaur v1 #1)
Powers and abilities
Devil Dinosaur was born a member of the reptilian race of large theropod dinosaur species before undergoing thermal mutation. On a basic feats level, Devil Dinosaur's mutated physiology granted him immense superhuman physical strength, durability, and stamina far exceeding that of a baseline dinosaur of his proportions, allowing him to easily crush large boulders and overpower other giant prehistoric apex predators. Devil Dinosaur possessed thick, reinforced hide scales that provided high-tier invulnerability to primitive weaponry and extreme temperatures. Due to his unique mutation, Devil Dinosaur possessed an exceptional tier of near-human cognitive intelligence, problem-solving skills, and deep empathetic tracking capabilities. While Devil Dinosaur lacked the physiological vocal framework required to speak human language, Devil Dinosaur could completely comprehend verbal commands, evaluate complex tactical situations, and communicate intent through a variety of targeted roars, gestures, and coordinated movements.
