- The Doctor Mid-Nite concept was created by Charles Reizenstein and Stanley Josephs Aschmeier where it made its first appearance in All-American Comics v1 #25 (April, 1941).

- In Smallville, an unidentified Doctor Mid-Nite appeared in the setting of the live-action television series in the episode "Absolute Justice" where he was shown in a painting depicting the Justice Society of America.
- In Young Justice, Doctor Mid-Nite appeared in the setting of the animated television series in the episode "Coldhearted" where he was voiced by actor Bruce Greenwood. Though not identified in the episode, the credits revealed that this version was Pieter Cross.
- In Stargirl, Doctor Mid-Nite appeared in the setting of the live-action television series on DC Universe. The original Charles McNider appeared where he was portrayed by actor Henry Thomas and afterwards Beth Chapel appeared who was portrayed by actress Anjelika Washington.
