Dopplegangers

The dopplegangers were twisted creations of the Magus during the Infinity War, each warped from its natural shape (a otherdimensional tentacled beast) into monstrous mockeries of the heroes and villains of the universe. The creatures could replace the originals after enveloping them into their true tentacled forms, and effect adequate impersonations of them, but were otherwise savage and generally mindless monsters. A few heroes and villains- notably Wonder Man, Rage, and Thanos- actually absorbed their dopplegangers, taking on a darker nature as a result. Most were wiped out following the Magus' defeat, although at least one, the Spider-Doppleganger, survived.
