History
The Draconis Combine was an interstellar human nation that was one of the Successor States of the Star League after its dissolution where it was located within the Inner Sphere. Its creation was traced to an ambitious man named Shiro Kurita who sought political power and control where by 26 years old he was able to unite his homeworld of New Samarkand. This was achieved through a mixture of diplomacy, force and the use of more underhanded tactics. Six years later, he established an alliance with the nearby world of Galedon V and became the Director of the Alliance of Galedon which was nominally a defensive pact against the nearby Ozawa Mercantile Alliance. Shiro came to usd the profits from Galdeon's privateering to finance a growing merchant navy.
Overview
In appearance, the Draconis Combine was an interstellar nation of humans that came to establish themselves across worlds in the Inner Sphere.
The leader of the Combine held the title of Coordinator who was always the head of House Kurita.
Culturally, the prevailing core of the Combine was based upon Shogunate Japan of pre-spaceflight Terra. Thus, it possessed a pervasive class system in which the nobility and modern samurai of the military were dominant. House Kurita's rule was also upheld by the Internal Security Force and Order of Five Pillars intelligence agencies, and an all-encompassing government bureaucracy.
Since its creation, the Draconis Combine looked to the expansion of its domain and acquisition of power through warfare.
Seppuku was a form of ritual suicide by disembowelment and a key element of bushido whereby a dishonored individual may attempt to regain some of their lost honor by committing suicide.
It maintained a large skilled military force that were known as the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery. A notable branch consisted of the Professional Soldiery Liaison (PSL) who were responsible for handling relations with mercenaries including recruitment and supervision, implicitly right down to the Company Store scheme. Among the military's most elite units were Draconis Elite Strike Teams (DEST) that were chief special forces units and consisted of a corps of commandos trained in every branch of the military which followed the tenets of the ancient ninja.
In space, the naval force of the nation was centred in the Draconis Combine Admiralty (DCA).
The various aspects thus formed the Five Pillars that each represented and symbolised a part of Draconian society.
A subversive group within the Combine was the Black Dragon Society (Kokuryu-kai) that consisted of a hard-line traditionalist group.
