Dyer

Dyer was one of the loggers who comprised the team of thirty men sent into the Olympic National Forest by Schiff-Immergut Lumber to cut down tress. When the group suddenly found themselves under attack by prehistoric nocturnal insects unleashed from within an old growth tree they (illegally) cut down, Dyer was opposed to Bob Perkins' suggestion that they simply send one logger to get help while the rest remained in camp. He suggested they all charge into the forest and make a run for it, every man for himself, and the others agreed. During their flight, Dyer stumbled and broke his ankle that night. Remarkably, his old enemy Perkins was the one who found him and tried to help him before they were both attacked and killed by the insect swarm.
