Eiko Hasigawa

By this point, she had no official role within the Hasigawa crime family though often accompanied her father during his dealings. (Catwoman v4 #35)

She was present with her father during a meeting with Selina Kyle who had become the new leader of the Calabreses crime family. Kyle had looked to consolidate the crime families in Gotham together and thus made overtures to the Hasigawa's. Eiko stood by her father’s side while Selina proposed a business deal involving the sale of illegal firearms through the Hasigawa-controlled ports. After the meeting, Eiko escorted Selina out of the building, where the two engaged in a brief, tense conversation. During this exchange, Eiko agreed to advocate for Selina's proposal to her father, despite the existing tension between their rival families. Later that night, Eiko put on a catsuit and traveled across the rooftops of Gotham, where she observed and followed Selina Kyle. While spying on her, Eiko reached the conclusion that Selina Kyle and the original Catwoman were the same person. Additionally, Eiko acted in secret to sabotage her father's criminal operations, which included warning a member of the rival Forster Lane family about an impending Hasigawa takeover to ensure they would instead align with the Calabrese family. (Catwoman v4 #35)

After Catwoman interfered with a deal she had been put in charge of, Eiko tracked the woman down and discovered her identity. Catwoman later disappeared and in her place, Selina Kyle took over the Calabrese Crime Family and united the families, with the Hasigawas a prominent hold-out. Knowing Catwoman had been retired, Eiko began dressing in her own catsuit to thwart her father's more morally questionable work, and to spy on Selina. (Catwoman Annual v4 #2)

Eventually, Selina discovered her activities, and the pair allied in trying to use Gotham's organized crime families to do good for the city. (Catwoman v4 #36)

Overview

Personality and attributes

Leader of the Hasigawa Clan in Catwoman v5 #54.

In appearance, Eiko Hasigawa was a female Japanese human with a slender build, light skin, and straight, chin-length black hair styled with blunt-cut bangs. During her initial introduction, she wore a high-collared, long-sleeved black dress featuring a red floral pattern on the right shoulder and side, paired with black hosiery. She wore dark lipstick and small, dark stud earrings. (Catwoman v4 #35) On her right arm, there was a dragon tattoo that was initially unfinished yet said to be quite beautiful. (Catwoman v4 #35)

Thus, she acted against the interests of her own family's criminal enterprise. While publicly serving as the dutiful daughter and translator for her father, Tatsuo Hasigawa, she secretly worked to undermine his authority and the Yakuza’s expansion in Gotham. She engaged in corporate and criminal sabotage by leaking sensitive information to rival factions, specifically informing the Forster Lane family of a planned Hasigawa takeover to force them into an alliance with Selina Kyle instead. To facilitate these actions without detection, she utilised a disguise consisting of a black catsuit and mask, allowing her to move across the city's rooftops unrecognised by both the police and her father’s security. (Catwoman v4 #35)

Her father was Tatsuo Hasigawa who was the head of the Hasigawa family in Gotham City. He came to delegate some of his authority to Eiko initially giving her some authority within the family. (Catwoman v4 #35)

For a time, she came to be romantically involved with Selina Kyle. In her developing relationship with Selina Kyle, Eiko Hasigawa established a strategic partnership characterized by mutual surveillance and shared objectives against the Gotham underworld. She acted as an informant and double agent, leveraging her position within the Hasigawa Yakuza to feed intelligence to Selina’s Calabrese crime family. (Catwoman v4 #39)
