Biography

Elena (Japanese: エレナ, Hepburn: Erena) was a female human who was the princess of an East African nation that has a cultural tradition of fighting. Her father, Jafari, was the chief of the region, and a traditional healer who also qualified in France for a doctorate degree in medicine. Elena desires to travel around the world, meeting new friends along the way. She studied as an exchange student in Japan, where she met her best friend Narumi. She later continued those studies in France.

While sparring with her brother Marcus, Elena feels unsettled by the feelings she senses from the surrounding trees. Her father Jafari, the patriarch of the tribe confirms her suspicions, claiming to have already discussed the matter with the Shaman. It has been determined that "a bringer of death" once walked amongst their people. The "seeds of sadness" this individual has proceeded to sow around the world have caused the trees to respond with "strange noises". These noises, presumably detectable by those with a strong connection to nature such as Elena and the Shaman, are implied to be the source of her disquiet. Believing that this person is associated with the upcoming S.I.N. tournament, he then reveals that he has decided to enter her into it. Furthermore, as head of the tribe, he then commands her amid protests from her brother to observe the fighters and thus determine "the truth". Elena cheerfully accepts his decisions.

Elena participated in the third World Warrior tournament, traveling from Kenya to engage in various combat matches across the globe. She utilized her Capoeira technique to compete against a diverse roster of martial artists, maintaining a constant rhythmic motion throughout each encounter. During these matches, she performed acrobatic transitions and struck opponents using exclusively leg-based attacks, such as the Rhino Horn and Mallet Smash. Following her participation in the tournament, she returned to her studies as an exchange student in Japan. She wrote a letter to her parents detailing her experiences, specifically mentioning her interactions with the people she met during her travels. She was observed sitting in a traditional Japanese classroom environment, interacting with her classmates and demonstrating a social and academic routine outside of her martial arts activities.

After the tournament, Elena informs her father that she has made many friends along the way. As she says so, she reflects on the fighters in the tournament and recalls her experiences: dancing with Blanka, sampling El Fuerte's cooking, having afternoon tea with Dudley, and taking a photo of herself with a somewhat reticent Akuma. She resolves to travel the World and become friends with people from every country. With that, she decides to head to Japan for her next trip. The last scene shows a close-up of Sakura, which may imply that she was the one who guides Elena in Japan.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Elena was a female of Kenyan descent with a dark complexion and short, silvery-white hair that was styled in a textured, slightly spiked fashion. Her facial features included blue eyes and a frequent, wide smile that conveyed a cheerful disposition. She possessed an exceptionally tall, slender, and long-limbed body type, characterized by highly developed leg muscles and a lithe, athletic frame suited for her rhythmic fighting style. Her attire was minimalist, consisting of a white two-piece outfit that resembled a sports bra and bikini-style bottoms, both trimmed with thin red and blue borders. She wore several thick, circular metallic bracelets on her wrists and similar bands around her ankles, which produced rhythmic sounds during her movements. She did not wear shoes, performing all of her actions barefoot to facilitate the grip and fluid footwork required for her martial arts maneuvers.

Elena's views of fighting and martial arts differ from most due to her light-hearted personality allowing her to befriend some people and annoy others. She is a very cheery person who looks to make friends which motivated her to join the 3rd world tournament to meet new people and hopefully make friends.

Powers and abilities

Elena demonstrated a combat style exclusively focused on the Afro-Brazilian martial art of Capoeira, utilizing her long limbs to execute a wide variety of rhythmic, dance-like maneuvers. She relied entirely on her legs and feet for offensive strikes, including high-reaching vertical kicks, spinning heel kicks, and low-sweeping leg rotations. Her movements incorporated constant fluid motion, often utilizing her hands and arms solely for balance and support while she inverted her body to strike from low angles. She exhibited significant acrobatic skill, performing handstands, backflips, and cartwheels as both offensive transitions and defensive evasions. Additionally, she possessed a unique regenerative ability that allowed her to recover physical stamina during a match through a specialized rhythmic technique. Her physical prowess was defined by exceptional flexibility and reach, enabling her to strike opponents from distances that exceeded standard hand-to-hand combat ranges.
