Elias Smith

Elias Smith was the mayor of Morganton, North Carolina in 1903. He contacted the Federal Police regarding strange occurrences atop the Great Eyrie, and was sent Chief Inspector Strock. Together his his faithful dog Nisko and two local guides, Harry Horn and James Bruck, Smith and Strock attempted to scale the Eyrie, but found it impossible to do so. The two men returned to Morganton, having learned nothing of the Eyrie's secret.
