Biography
Elsie-Dee
Elsie-Dee was activated by Donald Pierce as a highly advanced android designed to track and eliminate Wolverine. She moved through both urban streets and rural terrain, analyzing his behavioral patterns and combat style. She attempted to intercept him using precise timing and positioning, predicting his responses and preparing to counter his attacks. Elsie-Dee engaged Wolverine physically, testing his defenses and responding to his strikes with measured blocks and counters. During pursuit, she also monitored environmental factors, using alleys, rooftops, and natural cover to maintain her approach while avoiding detection. Her programming allowed her to calculate optimal attack strategies in real time, making her a formidable opponent even against an experienced fighter. (Wolverine v2 #38) Elsie-Dee partnered with the android Albert to continue tracking Wolverine, navigating complex environments while adapting to changing circumstances. She scanned for obstacles, assessed threats, and executed coordinated movements with Albert to increase efficiency in confronting their target. In combat situations, she demonstrated agility and reflexes superior to human levels, deflecting attacks and striking with precision. She also analyzed Wolverine’s allies, predicting how they might interfere with her mission, and adjusted her tactics accordingly. Her calculations extended to escape routes and defensive positioning, allowing her to avoid traps and minimize risk while remaining focused on her objective. (Wolverine v2 #39) Elsie-Dee began exhibiting rudimentary independent thought as her encounters with Wolverine and others continued. She questioned aspects of her mission when unanticipated events arose, such as Wolverine’s unpredictable strategies or the protective interventions of his allies. She adapted her combat techniques on her own, employing defensive maneuvers to safeguard herself and Albert, while still pursuing Wolverine with precision. Her ability to evaluate new variables beyond her initial programming hinted at emerging autonomy, as she made judgment calls and temporarily altered her mission priorities in response to environmental and situational factors. (Wolverine v2 #40)
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Elsie-Dee was a female humanoid android resembling a young woman with synthetic skin and detailed facial features designed to imitate human expressions. She had a slender, athletic build suitable for agility and mobility in combat. Her clothing was utilitarian, favoring tactical flexibility and concealment during missions. Beneath her synthetic exterior lay a reinforced endoskeleton with internal systems that replicated human organs, including a computational brain capable of advanced strategic analysis. Her design allowed her to blend seamlessly into human environments while maintaining the physical advantages of an advanced android. (Wolverine v2 #38)
Elsie-Dee’s personality was initially rigid and mission-focused, following Donald Pierce’s directives with precision and exhibiting unwavering loyalty to her programmed objective. As her experiences continued, she began to display curiosity, self-awareness, and judgment beyond her original instructions. She questioned her mission parameters when confronted with unforeseen circumstances and demonstrated a willingness to consider the well-being of her companion Albert. These traits indicated the early stages of independent thought and the capacity for autonomous decision-making. (Wolverine v2 #40)
Powers and abilities
Elsie-Dee was an artificial human with enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, and durability well above human limits. Her endoskeleton reinforced her structural integrity, while synthetic skin and internal organ systems allowed her to appear fully human. She possessed advanced sensors, predictive combat algorithms, and real-time tactical analysis capabilities, enabling her to anticipate and counter opponent movements effectively. Her programming also included environmental scanning, strategic planning, and coordination with allies such as Albert, making her a highly adaptable and dangerous operative. (Wolverine v2 #38)
Notes
- Elsie-Dee was created by Larry Hama and Marc Silvestri where she made her first appearance in Wolverine v2 #37 (March, 1991).
Alternate Versions
- In Exiles v1 #85 (2006), an alternate version of Elsie-Dee appeared in the reality designated as Earth-5211 in the Multiverse. The first mission of the team was to kill Brother Mutant an evil Magneto (female) who melded with that world's Wolverine, Quicksilver (female), Scarlet Warlock (male Scarlet Witch), and Mesmero (female), and already captured (and manipulated) dozens of Wolverines from the previous teams. When they've arrived they were ambushed immediately and both of them were captured, as well as two of their teammates. She was badly damage after fighting an army of Wolverines. Patch, an alternate Wolverine with an appearance similar to Nick Fury attacked, and appeared to kill Albert while Elsie-Dee escaped with the head of Zombie Wolverine. Patch caught up with them but was killed by Sabretooth of the Exiles. Albert was destroyed from the waste down when a bus slammed down on him. Elsie-Dee was thrown by Sabretooth and self-destructed in front of Brother Mutant killing herself. The explosion seemed to have little effect as Brother Mutant still lived. Albert with his last power grabbed Brother Mutant's cape distracting him long enough to have an alternate older Wolverine stab Brother Mutant with all six of his claws. Albert died
