Barzini headed one of New York's Five Families, and came to be the second most powerful Mafia don in the country after Vito Corleone. His criminal interests were in narcotics, gambling, and prostitution. He was looking to expand his empire to Las Vegas to take advantage of the Mafia's lucrative casino rackets.
