The X-Men reunited when a strange new threat arose. Dozens of latent mutants were summoned to San Francisco by Mesmero and what seemed to be Magneto. Among the summoned people was Lorna Dane, who just had befriended Iceman. In the villains' base, her dormant magnetic powers activated and she was then manipulated into believing herself to be the daughter of Magneto. The X-Men were overpowered by the villains and their mutant army and had no choice but to retreat and leave Lorna behind. Scott came up with a plan to rescue her: he created the cover identity of Eric the Red and used special devices built into the costume that redirected his optic blasts, making it look as if they originated from his hands. As Eric the Red, Cyclops infiltrated the villain organization and quickly rose to become Magneto's second in command. Now, the X-Men were able to attack from the outside and from within and the organization was destroyed, thanks in part to Lorna, who became convinced her relation to Magneto was a lie. Overview

The nobles of the Kin Crimson served as shepherds of Shi'ar history and held a rank that far exceeded that of the Superguardians of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. They hid in plain sight until they were called upon by specific moments to act. It was said that the Kin Crimson had stood before the Shi'ar throne had been built or the first Majestor had been crowned in a time when the Shi'ar were galactic raiders. Since then, they had defended their people from challenges both internal and external. (Marauders v2 #1) The Kin Crimson operated akin to ghosts that had not shown themselves to Shi'ar society for centuries. The secret society was said to be bigger than the Shi'ar throne and operated like a family. (Marauders v2 #2) The Kin Crimson looked to protect the secret of the Ten Shi'ar shames and to prevent them from being exposed to everyone. (Marauders v2 #3)

Members of the Kin Crimson were equipped with Hard Skin which used Shi'ar science that bent the people of D'Bari III's genes that allowed control over the lifeforce. Proprietary genetic therapy allowed a Kin Crimson Noble to wield red lightforce with but a thought with the Hard Skin being the product of thousands of years of experimentation. It allowed a Kin Crimson to think of any weapon or device thus making them into reality. When properly deployed, it allowed the user to make an army of hundreds. They were only limited by their focus and mental capacity. (Marauders v2 #2)

They also had a backup in the form of the Wet Skin to bolster their ability. (Marauders v2 #2) It involved the lobotomization of a Symbiote to create a form of weaponised blood with a genetic memory. (Marauders v2 #3)

Hidden deep amongst their ranks was also the Chronicle that was maintained by the Kin Crimson. It was a living member of their kind that served as an indestructible record of all their actions which were kept secret. (Marauders v2 #3)

A facility operated by the Kin Crimson was the Krag that was built between a maze of dimensional doorways and trapdoor technology. This site served as a pan-dimensional prison where the Kin kept their closely guarded secrets and their prisoners. (Marauders v2 #3)
