History

The Federal Bureau of Control (F.B.C.) was a clandestine United States government organization tasked with the containment, study, and control of paranatural phenomena. By 1954, it was noted that the organization was still young where it held only three Altered Items. Four years later in 1958 they were noted to had responded to three Altered World Events. It was originally headquartered in Washington where it was founded as a federal agency and fell under the jurisdiction of the federal government. In 1964, it officially became the Federal Bureau of Control with a cover story that it was intended to be part of an initiative to strengthen government relations.

Overview

Their mission was said to be to expand the limits of human understanding and containing those elements which they could not yet control.

Leadership of the agency was held by the entity known as Board whilst management of its operations was headed by a Director. The position of Director was determined by the Prime Candidate Program which looked for a suitable successor.

Trained agents known as Astralnauts used astral projection to explore the Astral Plane.

Part of their authority was achieved under the Paracriminal Rights Act that was a regulation set by the Federal Bureau of Control which detailed the treatment of paracriminals and suspected paracriminals.

Jurisdiction of the bureau appeared to extend beyond U.S. borders.

This meant that they took an interest in Altered World Events (AWEs) that were created when paranatural forces intrude upon perceived reality resulting in reality being altered.

Originally, the Bureau was stationed in Washington but later came to call the Oldest House its headquarters. The site was a Place of Power located in New York City which took the form of featureless skyscraper.
