History

Filth Monsters (also known as Pollutant Beasts and Contaminoids) were mutated beasts that ravaged a post-apocalyptic Earth where they preyed on mankind. According to one powerful member of the species that could speak, their kind were created as a result of humanity's actions.

Overview

Pollutant Beasts were large beasts with insectoid characteristics with some ranging from being larger than humans to being the size of large skyscrapers. They were often multi-legged creatures that could manifest wings allowing them the capacity of flight. It was said that they were powerful predators that could not be matched by any other on Earth. This was because of a number of traits within the species such as their highly aggressive nature, ability to adapt to their environments and being prodigious breeders. Young Filth Monsters were juveniles that had strong shells able to resist melee weapons or even ranged projectiles though powerful combatants were able to kill them with ease. However, more weaker foes were powerless against larvals that swarmed over their enemies and sometimes drew their wings in order to ravaged roving Regios. Some Filth Monsters were parasitic in nature and able to infect humans who became partly Contaminoid in appearance with carapace and insectoid features with a few signs of their humanity. They were able to survive in the pollution ridden environment of Earth that they feasted on it though their diet also consisted of humans or even their own kind if their was no other food source.

Reproduction was achieved through the mother Contaminoid laying eggs that were normally done in crevasses underground. Upon laying all the eggs, the mother would await for the newborn larvals to emerge where she would offer her own body as food to her offspring. However, if there was a readily available food source such as humans nearby she would not risk her life and instead allow this prey to feed her young. The young larvals were often birthed in large numbers and swarmed their targets in order to devour food.

Elder mature Filth Monsters were those members of their kind that had ceased to reproduce. Instead, they grew older and more powerful in time where they molted their skin a number of times. They were divided into numerous stages with the higher stages leading to greater levels of atrophy in their limbs. During these stages, their bodies remained inactive whilst they emerged from their old skin and into a new one but during their emergence they were voracious and hungry where they consumed any prey before them. Some elder Contaminoids were able to regenerate their flesh and repair grievous wounds with only complete destruction of the body being able to eliminate them.
