History

The Flame Keepers' Circle, also known as the Esoterica, was a cult that worshipped an extradimensional being that was known as Diagon. According to this cult, the entity visited Earth at the dawn of mankind in order to bring knowledge of fire and the promise that his return to the planet would bring about the rise of a Utopia. It remained in existence by the 21st century where a preacher of the cult was present at a circus where he encountered the alien Vilgax. His appearance led the Circle believe that he was their deity, Diagon. After Diagon's heart was cut out and pierced by Sir George's sword, the Flame Keepers' Circle built a cloaked shrine around it. This shrine travelled between Diagon's native dimension and the their own thus it never appeared in the same location twice.

Background

Members of the Esoterica masqueraded in public as a philanthropic organization that took donations as well as seemingly used them to provide humanitarian aid. However, this was simply a ruse to expand their influence across the world in the name of Diagon. Its recruitment drive included bringing in celebraties amongst their ranks in order to spread their message to the common masses. Their uniforms tended to be black suits with red skirts, bracelets and scarfs. In addition, they wore yellow tattoos that showed the flame designs on their chest as well as their faces. They were noted for not believing the words of others without proof.

Its warriors accessed both alien and extradimensional technology that allowed them to manipulate space. This allowed them to slip in another dimension and made it impossible for them to be seen or attacked. These warriors were also able to manipulate energy for offensive and defensive purposes.
