Biography

Val Ventura

After dropping out of community college, he came to work at Coolio Beans Coffee where after he had to use his powers he came to the attention of a party organizer called Andrew. He came to convince Val to work for him and asked him to impersonate Mister Fantastic at parties with the two doing this for years. Matt and Andrew were even involved in a relationship but Ventura came to grow tired of the lifestyle. Instead, he wanted to be a genuine superhero like Mr. Fantastic though Andrew believed this was unrealistic on account that Val was poor and had no talents. Despite this, Ventura was committed on being a superhero and decided on the name Flatman where he attempted to convince Andrew to be his sidekick Paperboy. However, Andrew had no interest in this and believed that Val was being unrealistic in his goals with the two separating as a result. (Great Lakes Avengers v2 #3)

As Flatman, he acted as deputy leader to the Great Lakes Avengers who were an unauthorised division of the superhero Avengers with they watched over the Wisconsin area. (West Coast Avengers v2 #46)
