Ganta Igarashi is a male anime and manga character who features in Deadman Wonderland.

Biography

Ganta Igarashi (Japanese: 五十嵐 丸太, Hepburn: Igarashi Ganta) was a Japanese male born as the son of Sorae Igarashi (五十嵐 そらえ Igarashi Sorae). His conception was done so by his mother to continue her research with human testing. Shortly after his birth, Ganta's presence came to awaken the maternal instincts in his mother.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Ganta Igarashi was a Japanese male with short black hair and bluish-gray eyes. In the Deadman Wonderland game, he was given the name of the Woodpecker (キツツキ, Kitsutsuki).

Ganta Igarashi was born the son of Sorae Igarashi (五十嵐 そらえ Igarashi Sorae) with his father being unknown.

Powers and abilities

Ganta Igarashi was originally an ordinary human until his encounter with the Red Man (赤い男, Akai Otoko) led to his infection by the Nameless Worm (名前のないワーム Namae no nai wāmu). This allowed him to gain a Branch of Sin (罪の枝, Tsumi no Eda) giving Ganta the power to manipulate his own blood to achieve various feats thus turning him into a Deadmen (デッドマン, Deddoman).

Whilst in Deadman Wonderland, he came to join the Scar Chain (自由の鎖 (スカーチェイン) group who opposed the prison and planned to leak the truth to the rest of the world.

Notes

  • Ganta Igarashi was created by Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou where he featured in the setting of Deadman Wonderland.
