Biography

Pre-Crisis

Golden Age

Dr. Doris Zeul

A scientist named Professor Zool artificially mutated a gorilla named Giganta into a malicious red-haired strongwoman. The mutation machine goes haywire and somehow reverts the world to an earlier stage. Giganta joins a primitive tribe to attack Wonder Woman, but is defeated. When the world gets to the Golden Age of humanity, Giganta causes trouble by encouraging a rebellion, which Wonder Woman stops. When the world returns to normal, Giganta was still in her 'strongwoman' form. Giganta was ultimately subdued and captured by Wonder Woman and taken to Themiscyra for rehabilitation. (Wonder Woman v1 #9)

Silver Age

Post-Crisis

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Dr. Doris Zuel was suffering from a fatal blood disease. In a desperate bid to save herself, Zuel planned to transfer her life-essence into the body of Wonder Woman, who was in a coma and being kept at the experimental medical facility where Zuel worked. (Wonder Woman v2 #127)

She made her way on a date with Ryan Choi when she was attacked by Wonder Woman who mistook Giganta being engaged in a criminal act. After a brief fight, she managed to calm Wonder Woman down where the two decided to talk about their love lives along with the problems they had with their male love interests. The volcano goddess Pele then revealed that her home was coming under attack from Zeus's champion with Wonder Woman going to stop Achilles Warkiller's army with Giganta deciding to help her. (Wonder Woman v3 #36)

During the Final Crisis, Giganta became a member of Libra's Secret Society of Super Villains, and later fell under the thrall of Darkseid alongside several other super-powered women, going under the name Gigantrix, in which she fights as one of the new incarnations of the Female Furies with Wonder Woman, Batwoman and Catwoman. She was possessed by the spirit of the Fury Stompa, and was only freed when Supergirl smashes the skull-and-crossbones mask from her face. (Final Crisis v1 #7)

Post-Flashpoint
