Biography

Origin

Gorgon Petragon

Many years ago, the young royal joined his cousin Black Bolt in confronting the King of Attilan over the removal of the Slave Engine. Gorgon believed the King's actions to be traitorous and made the Inhumans weak and vulnerable to the dangers around them. Thus, a coup occurred against the King who effortlessly defeated the young royals including Gorgon except for Black Bolt who managed to depose the monarch. The former ruler was then taken outside Attilan where his name was stricken from the records and he was exiled from the city. (Mighty Avengers v1 #27)

He was by Queen Medusa's side as the Inhuman survivors created New Attilan at the Hudson River where they looked to rebuild their fallen kingdom. Gorgon was present by his cousin's side as they brought the newly awakened Nuhuman Dante Peruz to their city. The boy was among the many descendants of Inhumans that recently had their powers awakened after being exposed to the Terrigen Cloud. Petragon decided to take responsibility in training the young Inhuman in the use of his powers. (Inhuman v1 #2)

Personality and attributes

He was noted for his talent as a hunter and being able to track people. (Marvel Knights v4 #19)

Gorgon served as a trainer in Attilan where he helped young Inhumans adjust to their new powers after Terrigenesis. (Inhuman v1 #2)

He had remarked that he liked metal music with the heavier ones being better. (Inhuman v1 #2)

A saying he was fond of telling was, "Straighten up and fly right." (Marvel Knights v4 #19)

He was noted to had fallen in love with a fellow Inhuman named Myrra who had been the mother of his children where she had died at some point. Her death had greatly affected Gorgon where he often had dreams of living in a world where she was still alive. (Royals v1 #4)

At some point, he had a daughter who was known as Alecto. (Marvel Knights v4 #20) He later had another son named Petras Petragon who was his daughters half-brother. (All-New Inhumans v1 #11)

Powers and abilities

Gorgon was noted to weigh around 600 pounds. (Marvel Knights v4 #19)

His powers were said to reside in his feet whereby stomping the ground he could create powerful shockwaves able to topple superhuman beings. Gorgon had such fine control of his power that he could direct his shock waves to strike strategic targets such as a wall behind an opponent causing it to crumble over them. It was said that his power was unimaginable to the point that he could use it to effortlessly destroy an entire city. (Fantastic Four v1 #44)

  • Gorgon was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where he made his first appearance in Fantastic Four v1 #44 (November, 1965).

  • In Fantastic Four, Gorgon appeared in the 1994 animated television series where he was voiced by actor Michael Dorn.
  • In Avengers: Ultron Revolution, Gorgon appeared in the setting of the animated television series in the episode "Inhumans Among Us" where he was voiced by actor Nolan North.
  • In Inhumans, Gorgon appeared in the live-action television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he was portrayed by actor Eme Ikwuakor. This version was a black male who resided on Attilan on the Moon where he was part of the Royal Family and head of the Royal Guard under King Black Bolt.

  • In Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Gorgon appeared in the video game where he was voiced by actor Greg Eagles.
  • In Marvel: Future Fight, Gorgon appeared as a playable character in the setting of the mobile video game.
