Biography
Gotou (Japanese: 後藤, Hepburn: Gotō) was the name given to a Parasite organism that had take a host body on Earth. He was actually an experimental creation made by the Parasite Reiko Tamura who desired to create a more powerful version of her kind. To achieve that, she had five Parasites in total merge into a single host body to make the form stronger than a normal human host. Only the lead Parasite named Gotou was able to unify the other four Parasites into a singular entity. These five distinct parasites fused into a single body granted him strength and versatility beyond that of his kind. Tamura, viewed him as the ultimate weapon to secure their survival against humanity. His creation and arrival marked a turning point in the conflict between humans and Parasytes, as his existence demonstrated the possibility of coordination and specialization among their species, elevating him beyond a mere predator into a living symbol of their dominance. Gotou established himself as the enforcer for the parasite organization, carrying out missions that required overwhelming violence and intimidation.
As a test of his abilities, he was in a car driven by Kusano where he went to confront a group of Yakuza members at their hideout. Arriving at the scene, he proceeded to slaughter 21 of them before killing the last members he informed them he was testing his limitations. He then left the area, only to be chased down by a few witnesses. After hiding himself, he picks off one of the men and changes his outfit and appearance, and returns to Kusano and drive off. They returned to headquarters and tell Hirokawa of their success. While Shinichi was waiting for Kana Kimishima in East Fukuyama City, Migi senses multiple parasites and goes to investigate. They eventually determine that there were 6 parasites on a podium and spot Gotou. He was standing next to Hirokawa, who was running for electoral office as a Mayor. Gotou came to similarly sense Migi in a group of spectators, and easily identified him and Shinichi, though he showed no interest in them at the time.
Afterwards, Gotou was sent in pursuit of Shinichi Izumi and Migi, where he demonstrated his relentless nature and his superiority in combat. His hunting of the pair highlighted not only his physical dominance but also his unwavering role as the ultimate predator, one who functioned without the nuance or internal conflict that other Parasytes sometimes exhibited. Unlike Reiko Tamura, who developed curiosity about humanity, Gotou remained cold and merciless, embodying the Parasyte instinct for survival and domination. His presence forced Shinichi into one of his greatest trials, as Gotou represented the perfected evolution of everything he and Migi had struggled against, driving them to seek unconventional means to confront him
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Gotou was a Parasyte in the form of a tall human male with strikingly lean musculature and sharp features, but unlike most Parasytes, his body constantly shifted beneath the surface, betraying the multiple organisms residing within him. His skin often rippled as tendrils and blades reformed just under the flesh, and he could transform his limbs into weapons at will. He typically wore simple clothing that allowed him flexibility, but this was secondary to his alien physique, which was both unnatural and terrifying to behold when he revealed his true form. As a fusion of five Parasytes, his body lacked the vulnerability of a singular brain-host system, making him an apex creature among his kind.
Gotou was one of the more intelligent members of his kind. He has shown a superiority complex over the human race, believing they are nothing but trash. He shows no remorse in combat, dismembering his opponents without a second thought. He has shown to be a patient person, waiting for his turn to attack and observing his enemies, and even allowing Shinichi to leave so that he may recover. Though he believes himself to be above humans, he still considers himself nothing other than a 'wild organism' that 'lives to fight'.
Though he was arrogant and dismissive of humans, he was respectful enough of either Reiko or Hirokawa to stay under the human's control with the other parasites even when Reiko is suspected to be dead, only going solo during the city hall battle after Hirokawa chooses to give up. He is also willing to allow Miki to take over the body and hunt or fight despite Miki's lesser ability, stating he only needs more experience. Likewise, he willingly praises his opponents for decent strategy, though he finds being injured by a single human rage-inducing.
Following the death of his masters, he became free to indulge in his violent impulses and live for the sake of bloodlust.
Powers and abilities
Unlike other Parasites, his body consisted of other Parasites merged into the host making him much faster, stronger and more dangerous with him being nearly impossible to injure. As a parasite, Gotou has the basic abilities to shapeshift his head, and maximize the physical potential of the body he is controlling. Gotou’s multiple parasites working in concert allowed him to adapt instantaneously, shifting his offensive and defensive measures with terrifying efficiency. However, as his body is composed of four other parasites, each replacing a different limb, these parasite abilities extend to all of his body. This makes him far faster, stronger, and more dangerous than standard parasites, and nearly impossible to injure.
Gotou was the most intelligent and skilled, and was the de facto leader of the composite body. Under his control, their combined offensive, defensive and movement capabilities are far beyond that of normal parasites. He is capable of hardening them into highly durable body armor that can withstand a direct grenade blast with only superficial damage and fend off military-grade shotgun blasts at close range, leaving only quickly-repairing holes.

- Gotou was created by Hitoshi Iwaaki where he featured in the setting of the Parasyte universe.
- The name "Gotō" was a pun as one of the kanji is synonymous with the kanji for five (五 go), referencing his composition and ability to the other 4 Parasites that form his body.
