Biography
Jethro Dumont
Dumont was a wealthy American socialite who had returned to New York City after spending ten years in Tibet studying to become a Buddhist priest. He maintained a secret sanctuary within his penthouse where he changed into a ceremonial green robe and hood to confront criminal activity. He investigated a series of murders linked to a criminal conspiracy involving a fraudulent investment scheme. Using his expertise in chemistry and ancient Tibetan knowledge, he created a specialized 'radioactive' salts formula that allowed him to emit a blinding green light to disorient his enemies. He engaged a group of armed thugs in physical combat, utilizing his mastery of jujitsu and pressure point strikes to incapacitate them without the use of firearms. During the confrontation, he demonstrated his ability to move with supernatural silence and speed, appearing and disappearing suddenly to intimidate his opponents. He eventually tracked the mastermind of the conspiracy to a private residence, where he used his psychological training and tactical brilliance to force a confession and recover stolen funds. By the conclusion of his first mission, he had successfully dismantled the criminal ring and established his role as a mysterious protector of the city, vowing to use his spiritual and physical discipline to combat evil. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, the Green Lama was a male with the physical stature of a tall, well-built, and athletic individual in his early thirties. He possessed dark hair and sharp, intelligent features that reflected his years of disciplined study. In his civilian identity as the wealthy socialite Jethro Dumont, he wore expensive, high-quality contemporary attire, including well-tailored business suits, silk neckties, and polished dress shoes. Upon assuming his vigilante persona, he changed into a costume consisting of a long, flowing hooded robe made of brilliant green silk. This robe featured a high collar and wide sleeves, and it was worn over a matching green tunic and trousers. He often wore a green mask or pulled the hood of his robe forward to partially conceal his face, and his footwear consisted of soft-soled slippers or boots that allowed for silent movement. The most striking element of his appearance was the eerie green luminescence that occasionally emanated from his hands or person during his use of specialized chemical salts. He did not carry traditional weapons, instead relying on the visual impact of his ceremonial Buddhist-inspired vestments to strike fear into his opponents. (Double Detective v5 #5)
Powers and abilities
He possessed a genius-level intellect with a mastery of chemistry and physics, which he combined with ancient Eastern knowledge to create specialized tools for his mission. His physical capabilities included expert proficiency in jujitsu and various forms of hand-to-hand combat that allowed him to use an opponent's weight and momentum against them. He was a master of ventriloquism and illusion, often using these skills to appear as though he were in multiple places at once or to project his voice to disorient criminals. He also demonstrated an extraordinary control over his own physiology, allowing him to endure extreme temperatures or remain motionless and silent for extended periods. A key tactical trait was his use of "magical" salts that, when thrown, created a blinding flash of green light or a thick screen of smoke. (Double Detective v5 #5)
Additionally, he was a talented linguist and strategist who used his vast family fortune to maintain a high-tech laboratory and a secret sanctuary within his New York penthouse. (Double Detective v5 #5)
