- For other uses of this name, see Griffin (disambiguation).
The griffin is a creature with the head of an eagle, the body of a lion and the ears of either a donkey or a horse. Females are better-known, having an eagle's wings as well- the less common male is known as a keythong.
Comments
Griffins (also spelled Gryphon or Griffon) are frequently found in fantasy worlds. However, the distinction between males and females is usually absent- griffins as a whole tend to be presented as creatures with the body of a lion and the wings and head of an eagle. Some researchers theorize that griffins were inspired by the discovery of protoceratops skulls.
