History
Hardcore Station
The bustling commercial hub and galactic 'truck stop' was located between five major commercial districts, owned and managed by Entreplaneteurs Inc., and home to a population of five million diverse beings. The initial events in the issue established the gritty, lawless nature of the station through the actions of its ruthless yet idealistic Chief Justice, Max, who was shown intervening in an organ-legging operation within the station's grimy lower levels. The core in-universe history revealed in this issue came through flashbacks detailing the origin of Tarsus Deltar, the temporal leader of the Church of the Nameless. A century prior, Tarsus was an ambitious and violent alien who, through a bloody quest, met the mysterious entity known as the Nameless in an astral plane. The Nameless claimed Tarsus was an "ultimate monster," a recurring tyrant across many lives (including an Earth dictator), and convinced him to become the leader of his church to promote a coming cosmic change. In the present time on the station, the main event was the impending arrival of a commercial ship named the Enigma, which carried the powerful cosmic being Synnar, setting the stage for a major conflict that would involve the station's future and the safety of the entire galaxy. Overview
In appearance, Hardcore Station was a massive, sprawling structure in deep space that functioned as a galactic "truck stop" and commercial hub, designed with utilitarian necessity over aesthetic appeal. The exterior was a complex, somewhat chaotic assembly of different sections and modules, lacking a uniform design and reflecting the rough, frontier nature of its existence between five major commercial districts. The station was home to a dense population of five million diverse, often unsavory, beings. Internally, the station featured a stark contrast between its different levels; the upper and more public areas were bustling but still had a utilitarian, metallic look, while the lower levels, like the "Grease District" and those where organ-legging occurred, were grimy, dangerous, and lawless. The station's overall visual identity was functional and crowded, a busy port designed to accommodate any and all interstellar traffic, from massive commercial freighters like the Enigma to small assassin vessels.
