Biography
Hestia (Japanese: ヘスティア, Hepburn: Hesutia)
Back when she was in Heaven, Hestia was one of the gods to guard the sacred flame. After descending to the Lower World, she was taken care of by her friend Hephaestus. Soon after, she was asked to live on her own after she kept freeloading off of Hephaestus Familia and was given a room at an abandoned church.
For a time, she tried to create her own familia but was unable to recruit anyone. After failing to recruit for the 50th time, she noticed Bell and decided to secretly follow him. Hestia found out that Bell had been trying to enter a familia, but was rejected multiple times and seemed to be in the same boat. Hestia then took the chance to recruit him, which Bell happily agreed upon; becoming the first member of her familia. She took Bell to a bookstore, the location she already decided beforehand, and granted her Falna to her first dependent.
One day, Bell went into a dungeon where he nearly got killed by a high-ranked minotaur that came up to the higher levels but he was saved by Ais Wallenstein. He would later return home where he was greeted by his Goddess Hestia where she brought him fried potatoes and both of them were happily eating dinner together. Later on, Hestia updated Bell's status and was surprised to see Bell acquired a skill Liaris Freese where she decided to hide this fact from him. The next morning, Bell woke up with Hestia sleeping on top of him. He got nervous and quickly changed his clothes to go to the Dungeon. In the evening, he was surprised about his status update as almost all his statuses had seen significant increase. He questioned Hestia about this but she was angry and left him alone. The next evening, Bell returned in an injured state after deciding to vent his frustrations out in the dungeon. Hestia ran to Bell as he fell on her arms. With blood dripping from his face, he said to her that he wanted to become stronger. Hestia updated Bell's status and saw his fast growth rate due to his rare skill, Liaris Freese. She wondered whether to tell Bell about his skill. Worried that the other Gods might gain an interest, she decided to keep it a secret. For the result of his status update, rather than giving Bell his paper, she told him directly that he was growing at an incredible rate at the moment and that he had the talent to be an adventurer, meaning that he would become stronger. Furthermore, Hestia said that she would support him and lend him her power so Bell would not act rash like before. She also asked him not to leave her alone, which Bell promised her. After that Hestia said she would be going out and leaving him for about three days.
In the meantime, Hestia attended the God's Banquet where Freya greeted her whilst she was busy trying to get as much free food as she could. Soon after, Loki dashed over to join Freya and Hestia. Hestia asked Loki whether Ais Wallenstein was seeing someone who Loki quickly answered that she would rip apart anyone who tried to get Ais. Freya commented on how rare it was seeing Loki dressing up. Loki insulted Hestia by saying that she purposely wore the dress so she could show off to the poor Goddess. Hestia countered by saying that the dress would only show off her sad flat chest. The two then fought each other by pinching each other's cheeks. All the other Gods surrounded them and bet on which one was going to win where in the end Loki left the party crying. Hephaestus appeared after Loki left which caused Hestia to happily say she wanted to meet her. Hephaestus quickly made it clear that she wouldn't lend Hestia any more money and reminded Hestia about how Hestia used to freeload from her for a long time. Hestia said that everything changed now since she had a Familia member. Hephaestus apparently knew Bell, the boy with white hair and red eyes, was Hestia's Familia member. After hearing that, Freya excused herself as she had confirmed something. After she left, Hestia came to beg Hephaestus to make a weapon for Bell.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Hestia was a beautiful and petite Goddess with a youthful appearance. She has blue eyes and mid-thigh length black hair tied into twin-tails which reach down to her mid-thighs. Her hair is tied with hair accessories that feature blue and white petals along with bell-shaped ornaments, which were gifted to her by Bell.
She was said to be quite a simple Goddess, and is often teased by many other Gods for being childish, her demeanor has caused her to have relationships with a wide variety of them and her status as Goddess of the immortal flame makes her someone with authority and an undeniable high position
On various occasions it had been pointed out that she was kind to others. She did not discriminate against anyone and was fair with everyone, even Hera. Both Hephaestus and Penia had noted that she was the only one who did not make fun of their flaws, the deformity in her friend's eye and the latter's status as a Goddess of Poverty. Hestia was well known for it which caused Loki to be shocked when she referred to Dionysus as terrifying.
Despite all her good features and her typically nice demeanor, Hestia is very different when it comes to Bell. Having fallen in love with her first dependent, she dreams of having a relationship with him and is extremely jealous. Every time she finds out about a new relationship of Bell with a girl, she becomes exalted and seeks to see if that woman has romantic feelings for him. In cases where she confirms her fears, she acquires a hostile attitude regarding Bell, seeing all of them as her love rivals. She often argues with Lili about the boy, which is the greatest example of this.
She has a notorious antipathy towards Ais due to Bell's feelings for her. Likewise, she constantly tries to keep them apart and maintains her sullen attitude towards her even when Bell is not present. Her dislike and jealousy for her even served as her main motivation to hide from Bell the existence of his skill Liaris Freese, even surpassing her desire to protect him.
Powers and abilities
As a virgin goddess, Hestia is immune to the Goddesses of Beauty's charms. By releasing her divinity to its full extent, she could receive Freya's charm without being affected. When combined with her power over the flame, she can even undo it, allowing her to remove Freya's control over people.
Among the abilities known to her included:
- Protective Fire (護り火) :
- Dios Aedes Vesta (偽現・炉神の聖火殿ディオスアエデス・ウェスタ) :
She was the head of the Hestia Familia (ヘスティア・ファミリア) that were a exploration type Familia.
