Hitomi Uzaki

Hitomi Uzaki is a female anime and manga character who features in Killing Bites.

Biography

Hitomi Uzaki (Japanese: 宇崎 瞳, Hepburn: Uzaki Hitomi) was initially an unnamed Therianthropes who was in fact an Origin Beast who was not transformed into one through an operation but was born with a melding of human and animal genetic material. Around seven years ago, she was a child that prowled the streets of Hong Kong where she lived as a feral creature that used her speed to steal food from the various shops. Her reputation led to the natives referred to her as Chùshēng [畜牲. lit. Animal] with no one able to catch her. During this time, a young Dr. Shidou Reiichi who had heard of her existence had come to the city in order to find her. He eventually discovered a favourite spot of the Therianthrope where he decided to bond and make a friendship with her. This resulted in him bringing food but on each occasion the Therianthrope would bite or scratch him before taking the food and leaving only to return to the same spot the next day. Each time, Shidou brought more and more food where he suffered repeated injuries from the young Therianthrope. During this time, he discovered that she had a fondness for sweets over meat with him bringing these as a treat for her. He eventually came to bring her clothing which she ripped apart each time before finally accepting his gift. Around this time, he was surprised to see her beginning to speak and was overjoyed at this development with him deciding to name her Hitomi. It was then that one of his colleagues had followed him and shot the Therianthrope with a tranquilizer shot with the young feral girl quickly escaping. However, the effects of the shot began to take effect and she collapsed in an alleyway where she was discovered by a local gang that intended to kill her for stealing food from their shops. Dr. Reeichi arrived on the scene where he desperately attempted to shelter her and suffered injuries before the pair were saved by Shinozaki. This moment served as the first time Shidou and Hitomi had bonded with her feeling being in-debt towards him. It was during this time that she began to adopt a more human based form rather than her natural Therianthrope state.

While walking along the streets, Hitomi is taken by a group of college students and His Boss named Houjou who prepare to violate her but are slaughtered by her for their transgression. She then tells the driver, Nomoto Yuuya, who stopped the van due to not wanting to continue any further with this act, to keep driving, as well as warn him to not look behind to see the carnage. After making Yuuya stop at a junkyard, Hitomi calls Shidou Reiichi to tell him she and Yuuya have arrived at the site for her first Killing Bites match with the Brute Leo. She then turns around to see Yuuya missing but soon finds him after he confronted and angered Leo. Hitomi confronts her Killing Bites opponent and offers Yuuya's life as collateral as she changes into her Brute Ratel form. As she begins to mock Leo, Hitomi is sent crashing by Leo and is hit with a series of attacks. Despite being injured, Hitomi manages to bite off three of Leo's fingers and wins her match by finishing him off with Slash. She was then taken to Yuuya's apartment to have her wounds looked at. The next day, Hitomi has Yuuya follow him to a dessert restaurant to meet up with Shidou Reiichi who assigns Hitomi as Yuuya's bodyguard while Yuuya is forced to become her investor. Later, Hitomi demands Yuuya to go out to fetch the things she has listed with the other intention of using him as bait to lure out enemies out looking for her. After Brute Raudi attacks Yuuya, Hitomi appears to confront her but has her fight interrupted by Okajima Ichinosuke who has come looking for Hitomi to join Ishida Zaibatsu for the Killing Bites Destroyale. Hitomi refuses, having too much confidence in her strength, however, after she gets a text from Reiichi instructing her to join Ishida Zaibatsu, Hitomi agrees to temporarily affiliate herself with Ishida Zaibatsu.

Hitomi accompanied Yuuya to the hospital to treat his injuries and to his college where she meets one of his friends, who she found to be annoying, and sits through a boring classroom lecture. She then goes to the bathroom and is met by Nakanishi Eruza, a Brute from Yatsubishi Zaibatsu who has come to pick a fight with her by stealing her underwear. Hitomi enters her battle form and chases after Eruza whose speed is too fast for her to catch up. Eruza swiftly gets on top of Hitomi and enters her battle form, revealing herself as Brute Cheetah and makes an incoming blow to her neck. However, Hitomi intercepts it by using her fangs to bite down on her paw, causing Eruza to back away. They are then interrupted by Yabe Shota and Brute Bear who warns them that fighting between Brutes are forbidden until the Killing Bites Destroyale, however, Hitomi ignores what Shota had to say and rushes in to attack. She sees that he managed avoid it by grabbing on to a tree branch and is stopped by Eruza from continuing to cause any further violence. To make sure that Hitomi does not engage in any fights before the Destroyale, Eruza follows her to meet back with Yuuya in his club room and are asked by him to wear maid outfits given to him by Moriyama to convince him and the others that their cosplayers after exposing their transformations. Hitomi declines his request at first but changes her mind after Eruza offers to teach her partial transformation if she wears the outfits with her. The two walk out wearing the outfits and pose for the college students, which Hitomi found to be oddly enjoyable. Later, in a restaurant, Hitomi is told by Eruza that she should think about finding another investor before the Destroyale since Yuuya is unskilled as a player but tells her that she is okay with having Yuuya since she can use him to do whatever she wants. Hitomi returns to Yuuya's apartment and has him accompany her to the park to discuss matters before the upcoming event.

Despite this, she regained consciousness in order to fight the Chameleon assassins from the Sumitomo Zaibatsu. They had been tasked with killing the weakened victors leaving no clear winner of the Destroyal. However, Hitomi awoke where she managed to kill several of them but were injuries and her body being exhausted caused her to collapse again. She was only saved when Destroyal commentator Shinozaki arrived to kill the Chameleon's for interfering with the contest. Hitomi were later taken for medical attention where her severed arm was reattached to her body and was undergoing healing. During this time, her items were moved from Notomo's residence and he had not seen her for weeks. In that time, Dr. Reiichi gave Uzaki an order to kill Notomo as they could no longer afford to let him live. Despite her reluctance, she agreed to follow his command and sent a message to Notomo to meet her at the junkyard where they were first met in the Killing Bites match. Notomo thanked her which left Hitomi embarrassed and she blushed when she came to think that he had developed feelings for her though he simply said that he had admired her. During this touching moment between the pair, she used her claws to slash his chest seemingly killing him and leaving his body behind. She entered a car that had come to collect her where she claimed that she had no problem killing Notomo but had tears in her eyes during this moment.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, she resembled a young silver short haired girl. When she transformed, her arms and legs were coated in a layer of fur with her having furry ears and a tail. Ratel also gained sharp claws and fangs in her transformed state whilst having reddish-eyes. In her Origin Beast state, her skin turned darker and there was more fur that covered her limbs and body. In her youth, she came to be known by the local community at Hong Kong as the Chùshēng (畜牲?). She was often referred to by her enemies as Brute Ratel.

She has no shame or resistance in her state of dress when fighting but is conscious about acting more feminine despite her tomboyish attitude. Hitomi isn't exactly knowledgeable about most perverts unless they make a move.

It was shown that she shared some of the personality traits of the Honey Badger. This included her defiant nature in fighting more dangerous foes. Hitomi was shown to be a ferocious fighter who yearned to be in battle. In a fight, she could be ruthless against opponents and was shown to had eviscerated attempted rapists that tried to kidnap her. She even showed no hesitation in their driver who had been forced to operate the vehicle but was convinced by Dr. Shido to leave him alive. Despite this being the case, she was shown to be capable of mercy such as when Cobra was wounded with her allowing him to get medical attention. When fighting Pangolin, she stated that she enjoyed fighting an opponent who did not break easily and was exhilarated in the battle against him.

Though normally quite crass, she acted completely differently when she was talking to Dr. Reiichi with her fawning over him and keen on pleasing him. Furthermore, she showed a completely different side to herself when she was eating sweets. It was shown that liked having sweets more than meat or other foods.

In battle, she known to observe her opponents to see their tactics in order for her to counter their moves in battle. This could see her goading her enemies into attacking her as she was prepared for respond to their assaults with her own attack. In one case, she used her severed arm as a projectile weapon that she threw at her opponents face to wound them giving her the distraction she needed to go in for the kill but shoving her fist through their mouth and smashing their brain.

Her view towards fighting led to her repeated catchphrase was, ""The one who's fangs are the sharpest wins. Thus, Killing Bites".

Powers and abilities

Due to her nature as a Therianthrope, she actually had superhuman abilities that derived from the animal traits of the Honey Badger that were instilled in her genetic material. As a Honey Badger, she was somewhat resilient to poisons from animals such as the cobra which allowed her to recover faster. As such, she could be paralysed by neurotoxin for a short time but ultimately recovered.

This led to her signature move which was Slash (蜜獾斬スラッシュ, Surasshu?) whereby she cut through opponents with her claws leaving them badly wounded or killed. Her claws were able to even sever body parts of other Brutes leaving them badly mauled. Only Brutes with a particularly strong armor-like skin were able to resist her clawed attacks.

As an Origin Beast (原オリ種ジのンビ獣ース人ト, Orijinbīsuto?), she was unlike other Therianthropes as she was born as a perfect blend of animal and human DNA making her more powerful. At certain times, she could transform into her true state where she was much more powerful and stronger. Her animal traits as Brute Ratel become much more prominent. Her black ratel fur shifts to being pure white and grows to become tuft, while her skin becomes tanned, and her eyes turn red. The fur on her lower body noticeably extends to completely covering her legs and hips. Her hair also grows longer and wilder. Her hands and feet become black with longer claws. Hitomi's mental state was also affected on top of her appearance, becoming more exhilarated to fight her opponents than she did previously to where she tends to toy with them as her 'playthings'.
