Biography

Hordr_Root in Superman v3 #47.

Hordr_Root was a being born from a human in the modern age where the man suffered from a genetic disease that confined confined him to a wheelchair. This man by adulthood came to be a hacker and ranked as one on the best on Earth. With his skill, he was able to learn that his biological father was none other than the immortal Vandal Savage. Savage though was disgusted at the idea that he who was deemed the pinnacle of humanity could father something so flawed. He wanted nothing to do with his child and threatened to kill him if he ever contacted him again. The child though decided to his skills in technology to craft a software approximation of his own mind and housed it in a cadaver enhanced with nanotechnology. The creation of this construct was for the man to find a means of escaping the confines of his own body and prove his worth to Vandal Savage. Despite being a simulation of his mind, the man insisted the A.I. was not him. The intelligence though refused to accept this and killed its creator stating that there could only be him. Taking the name HORDR, the A.I. used his talents to prove his worth to Vandal Savage who considered the machine as his son. (Superman v3 #47)

Jimmy barely survived HORDR's attack and Condesa took him to safety whilst Superman took on his sand duplicate clone. Superman baited the duplicate into using a solar flare, intending to use the explosion to recharge himself and leave the clone vulnerable. It only partially worked as Superman did not regain his powers but the sand clone was turned to glass allowing the Man of Steel to shatter him. Clark returned to the hideout to find Condesa had turned all the electronics against Yurei, trapping her in a metallic prison. Yurei realized her part in the plot was over thus revealing that despite his victory, Clark Kent would not be safe as HORDR_ROOT would hunt him down with or without her. Taking Jimmy Olsen, he had the human's body dressed in the guise of Hordr_Root whilst his mind took control of him. Later, Clark and Haemosu put on the scheduled brawl but this time HORDR_ROOT and his group of robots and Quarmers crashed into the Thousand One House. However, unlike their past encounters, this time it turned out to be a trap that Clark had made for HORDR_ROOT. Alongside his minions, they attacked Superman where his ally Mayari created a bubble around the arena that traps them all inside and blocks all communication and signals. HORDR was thus trapped this time and could not transfer his mind to another node. (Superman v3 #47)

Avenging Apolaki, the gods fight came to fight against HORDR's robots. This was until Superman grabbed HORDR and looked to end the fight by breaking his foes neck. Clark dropped HORDR not wanting to commit murder with the villain who laughed at the hero's actions stating that now none of his friends and family would be safe. It was then that Condesa used a special hard drive to trap HORDR thus ending the threat posed by him. Clark at that point recognized the HORDR node's real voice and unmasked the person revealing it to be Jimmy Olsen. Kent then realized he had nearly killed his best friend and cradled him as he fell unconscious. Clark then took the hard drive to Mr. Terrific Michael Holt and asked him to keep it safe away from any RF signals that could enable HORDR to escape. Later on though, Holt's labs came under attack from Vandal Savage himself who looked to free his son. (Superman v3 #47)
