House of Evolution (One Punch Man)

House of Evolution is an organization that features in One Punch Man.

History

The House of Evolution (Japanese: 進化の家, Hepburn: Shinka no Ie) were a secret laboratory and organization that was headed by Dr. Genus. From a young age, he doubted the claim that humans had unlimited potential. He considered the people around him to be primitive and found it painful to live among them. At 15 years old, he resolved to make humanity evolve further and create a world suitable for him. Over the next few years, he used his intelligence to make various contributions to the world. However, despite all the praise he received for his intellect, no one would approve of his ideas to artificially evolve human beings through man-made mutations

Dr. Genus sent Mosquito Girl to collect blood and find powerful fighters. She attracted the attention of Genos who attempted to destroy her but failed after she absorbed the blood her mosquitos collected. She attempted to kill him before she was stopped and killed by Saitama. After Saitama defeated Mosquito Girl, Dr. Genus sent out 6 of his creations to capture Saitama. All of them were killed except for Armored Gorilla and they were set off for the House of Evolution. Dr. Genus then planned to set traps for them but it failed after Genos burnt down the main building. Afterwards, Dr. Genus reluctantly released Carnage Kabuto and while he managed to defeat Genos he failed to defeat Saitama and was ultimately killed.

After the partial destruction of its headquarters and the death or defeat of its strongest warriors at the hands of Saitama and Genos, the organization appears to be effectively defunct. Although the doctor and some of his clones survive, he resolves to give up his experiments after watching his most powerful artificially evolved creature, Carnage Kabuto, killed easily in his strongest form by the inexplicably powerful Saitama.

Overview

The House of Evolution was headquartered in a thin, skyscraper-like building with eight floors in a forest, although it also connected to expansive underground facilities. The above-ground section of the base was annihilated by Genos upon his and Saitama's arrival. The base's underground facilities include an enormous chamber for combat testing of new specimens, and the containment chamber used to imprison Carnage Kabuto.

• Ground Dragon : an artificial mutant resembling a humanoid mole able to dig underground at fast speeds. Ground Dragon is part of the team that goes after Saitama on Dr. Genus' orders. When Saitama unexpectedly kills Kamakyuri and defeats Frog Man and Slugerous, Ground Dragon is able to grab Saitama's feet and drag him into the ground, trapping him with only his head showing. As Beast King arrives to the scene, Ground Dragon comes to the surface and comments that it will be easier when the victim cannot resist. Ground Dragon is surprised when Saitama frees himself with ease and warns Beast King not to kill him. He is shocked to learn that Saitama is much stronger than they expected when he witnesses him killing Beast King and flees back underground. However, Saitama dives into the ground as well, turns up right in front of Ground Dragon and punches him through the ground into the sky.
• Frog Man : an artificial mutant resembling a humanoid frog who was part of the squad sent to capture Saitama. Shortly after one of the group, Kamakyuri, is killed, Saitama and Genos leave the apartment and Saitama shoves Frog Man and Slugerous headfirst up to their waists. He was later shown again when Saitama and Beast King are fighting and was ripped to shreds by Beast King's attack.
• Slugerous : an artificial mutant resembling a humanoid slug who was a telepath making him a potent scout. Slugerous is part of the team sent to capture Saitama. Shortly after Kamakyuri is killed, Saitama and Genos exit the apartment and Saitama buries Slugerous and Frog Man headfirst in the ground up the their waists. Slugerous is later shown during the fight between Saitama and Beast King pulling himself out of the ground, but is then quickly killed by one of Beast King's attacks.
• Mosquito Girl : a humanoid sized female mosquito based humanoid who was able to able to control swarms of mosquitos where she absorbed blood from humans. She was dispatched to find strong fighters and take their blood back to the House of Evolution. Her activities drew the attention of Genos where she nearly overpowered him but she was defeated by Saitama.
• Subject No. 66 : Zombieman was created by Dr. Genus and the only success of the Immortal series. Ten years ago, he managed to escape, leaving behind a destroyed lab. He once fought against a Mysterious Being in a fierce battle for 140 hours and emerged victorious. This event made him a bit famous whereupon he joined the Hero Association.
