Biography
Yehya Badr was a male human born in Luxor, Egypt to two doctors in the modern age. Growing up, he became an excellent student throughout his life, eventually becoming a doctor as well. He grew to become a very rational and serious person who did not believe in any higher entities, despite still attending prayer and studying the Qur'an and Hadith. This all changed when he was attacked by vampires and left to die on the streets, at which point he met the Egyptian Moon God Khonshu. (Moon Knight v9 #6)
Yehya survived and became a worshipper of Khonshu known as Hunter's Moon, the god's second high priest, and opposite of Marc Spector, the Moon Knight. After Moon Knight rejected to worship Khonshu but appropriated his mission, establishing a congregation called the Midnight Mission, Badr moved his territory and took over a free clinic in the neighborhood. Keeping watch of Moon Knight, Badr intended to correct the vigilante, whom he believed had strayed away from Khonshu's purpose. (Moon Knight v9 #1) Hunter’s Moon directly confronted Moon Knight after deeming his methods dishonorable and unworthy of Khonshu’s creed. Entering the Midnight Mission, he challenged Marc Spector and immediately forced the encounter into a physical contest. Hunter’s Moon struck first with decisive, martial precision, wielding crescent darts in close-quarters combat while forcing Moon Knight onto the defensive. The two fought viciously across the sanctuary, their strikes calculated and relentless, as Hunter’s Moon sought to prove himself the true Fist of Khonshu. Despite his aggression and skill, Marc countered with his own arsenal and brute force resilience, the battle ending only when both men were exhausted and Marc asserted his continued role as Khonshu’s chosen. Hunter’s Moon retreated from the confrontation, but not without leaving a clear impression that he would continue to oppose Moon Knight’s interpretation of their shared god’s will. (Moon Knight v9 #2)
After learning that Moon Knight had taken in vampires under his protection, Badr terrorized the nightwalkers to get his attention. Hunter's Moon eventually confronted Moon Knight, chastised for taking in enemies of Khonshu and expressed his intentions to "correct" him. Badr beat Moon Knight and invaded the Midnight Mission to kill the vampires, but Spector recovered and knocked him unconscious after attacking him from behind. Dragging Badr outside his building, Moon Knight warned him about crossing him again. (Moon Knight v9 #3) Hunter’s Moon reappeared during the fallout of Marc’s growing conflicts with outside threats. When Moon Knight was ambushed by assassins sent by the Tutor’s vampire cult, Hunter’s Moon interjected at a crucial moment, saving Marc from being overwhelmed. He struck down several attackers in rapid succession with crescent darts and brutal hand-to-hand strikes, showing a clinical and efficient fighting style. Working alongside Moon Knight, he dispatched the remaining assailants, the two Fists of Khonshu demonstrating that despite their differences, they could operate as a formidable unit. Once the skirmish was over, Hunter’s Moon did not linger, making it clear his intervention was not reconciliation but obligation — his duty as Khonshu’s other fist compelled him to act in defense of their shared cause, whether or not he respected Marc’s leadership. (Moon Knight v9 #4)
Hunter’s Moon again entered the fray during Marc’s escalating war against the vampire cult. This time, his participation was more sustained, engaging alongside Marc in coordinated strikes against their enemies. Hunter’s Moon utilized his weapons with deadly accuracy, cutting through ranks of the vampires and employing his superior combat training to devastating effect. At one point he shielded civilians caught in the crossfire, driving attackers back with ferocious precision strikes. Despite Marc’s leadership of the operation, Hunter’s Moon operated with calculated independence, neither undermining nor deferring but fulfilling his role as a warrior in Khonshu’s service. By the battle’s conclusion, their uneasy alliance had proven effective, showing that while ideological divides remained, their cooperation in the field was undeniable and decisive, (Moon Knight v9 #5)
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Hunter’s Moon was a male human who bore a striking resemblance to Moon Knight in terms of costume design, though with key differences that emphasized his darker, more severe aesthetic. His suit was a full-body outfit of pristine white, though accented with a darker hood and cloak that framed his form in shadow. The mask was full-faced, covering his head entirely, with white eye lenses glowing through the fabric. His gloves, boots, and crescent-shaped insignia were highlighted more sharply than Marc’s, the design evoking symmetry and formality. Unlike Moon Knight’s sometimes tattered and practical garb, Hunter’s Moon’s costume appeared ceremonial and immaculate, suggesting his devotion to representing Khonshu’s will with precision and reverence. (Moon Knight v9 #2) Similar to his 'brother' Marc Spector, he came to adopt another name for his costumed persona and went by Dr. Moon. In that guise, he wore his mask but wore a black suit similar to how Marc's Mr Knight wore a white suit. (Moon Knight v9 #8)
Hunter’s Moon’s personality was defined as being rigid, uncompromising, and deeply devout. Unlike Marc Spector’s pragmatic and individualistic approach, Badr viewed his role as Khonshu’s Fist with solemnity and absolute dedication, adhering strictly to the god’s doctrine. He spoke with authority and condescension, regarding Marc as unworthy and corrupted by his personal methods, yet he also displayed a sense of inevitability — a belief that his duty was not chosen but divinely mandated. This strict devotion made him dismissive of compromise or deviation, setting him apart as a zealot whose morality was entirely defined by Khonshu’s will. (Moon Knight v9 #2.
