By the time she was 13 years old, her family had moved to Munich in Germany with her father attempting to keep her away from the rest of the clan. (Justice League: Generation Lost v1 #12)

Her grandfather came to track the family down and attempted to take her back to the Bygd with her father stopping their efforts. This caused them to beat him and seeing her father being injured caused Tora to lose control of her powers. This resulted in the death of several people including her own father. The event was traumatised her so much that caused her to repress the memory as a result of the accidental deaths. This combined with her training to remain calm to keep control of her abilities resulted in Tora developing a shy personality. (Justice League: Generation Lost v1 #12) Afterwards, she continued to be on the run with her mother and sister until she found an opportunity keep them safe. This was until she made a deal with the government who moved her family to New Zealand where they would be safe from further pursuit. This saw her joining the Global Guardians in order to replace the Norwegian member Icemaiden. Tora though was ashamed of her past and decided to lie about it whilst on the team.
