Alternate Versions
- In Universe X v1 #0 (2000), an alternate version of the Isaac Christians Gargoyle appeared in the Earth X reality that was designated as Earth-9997 in the Multiverse. As a young man, Isaac fought in World War I and held a woman named 'Elaine' dear to his heart, and would remember her for the rest of his long life. At some point in his life, Isaac made a deal with a demon, trapping him in the form of a stone gargoyle. Decades later, Isaac became a member of the Defenders, fighting alongside the likes of Kyle Richmond and Doctor Strange against supernatural threats. Isaac was one of many heroes present when Mar-Vell passed away from cancer. Years after the mutation of humanity, Isaac came upon his old friend and associate, Kyle Richmond, who was plagued by visions of both the future and the past. Kyle had become deeply tormented by his visions, and Isaac began taking care of him. He convinced Kyle that his powers could still do much good, as a way of chronicling history for future generations. Either before or shortly after reuniting with Kyle, Isaac was approached by Mr. Church, a spokesperson for the Church of Immortus. Church offered to restore Isaac's ability to feel if he provided him with transcribed copies of Kyle's visions. Isaac eagerly agreed, believing Church to be no more than a second tier mystic. Isaac carried on his work eagerly, with Kyle seemingly unaware of his deal with Mr. Church. Meanwhile, the world around them was falling into chaos, as the Church of Immortus waged war against the law enforcement of the city, while the very planet was on the verge of complete ecological destruction due to the removal of the Celestial embryo at its core. To Isaac's great joy, Mr. Church seemingly delivered on their deal, and Isaac gradually became able to feel once more.
